My stock 02 ram 2500 h. o. cummins 6 speed 4x4 needs a new clutch after 72,000 miles. I do drive aggressively but is this a short life for the stock clutch? I only tow a small boat 3k. I don't want to lose drivability of stock clutch but would like a longer lasting clutch if available.

south bend, period. My CON OFE is a little sticker than stock but it will hold 1000FT/LBS of torque! They sell a CON O but if you're planning on possibily bombing in the future get one you'll never have to worry about.

That is a little soon for the stocker, I have 80K on mine and tow a whole lot more weight than 3K, and I'm at 700 ft. lbs torque, no problem so far, but if I push it it will slip. The SBC is the best clutch if you can afford it. :D

I've been looking thru past forums and it seems to me that many prefer the sbc con ofe. I just want to be sure that if I go that route there won't be 1)excess chatter? 2) or that i would get less than 70k on clutch. I see there is a sbc dealer/ installer in Franklin, WIS. I am going to e-mail and get a price from them. The Dodge dealer wants 925 to replace everything stock. No bombing yet but almost out of warrenty and maybe time to start playing soon.

My Centerforce dual friction is nice replacement. I think my stock clutch died around 70K, too. The centerforce is only good to like 700 lbs, and was not recomended for track pulling, but it was an economical buy and fits my needs. It came with a new TOB and at $500 was a better deal than the OEM replacement.

The Con OFE is the hot ticket if you get crazy with the bombs. I'm putting in the Con-O soon, I don't plan on any more mods, I use it to tow more than anything. I have heard that the OFE is a little grabby, but it's not that bad.

Thanks for more info. Can anyone tell me how many miles on the sbc con-ofe? 50k? 75k? 100k? Also I see some of you have gone with the con o. What are the benifits of the con o over stock and how many miles with it?

I have 25k on mine 10-12k pulling a 8k# 5r. The benifits are: it is rated to 350hp and 700 or 750 ft/lbs torque. Still working like new. ;)
