Got out with a lariat tied around my front axle and a brand X pickup hauling me out. Didn't need much, but all tires but my RF were spinning...

Looks kind-of like my truck in my lawn! After a day's rain, the front end sank down to the axle! Took a stout oak tree and a come-along to pull it out!

I think my neighbors heard me laugh when I scrolled down to that PeeWee pic.



That is the reason I'm going to get some 285 BFG muds next time around. A little less mileage beats being stuck. These stockers get stuck on damp grass.



Also had to mention that I got the chance pull a stuck FL 120 with a 45' trailer today. Also got the first real scratch too when I backed over a stake for a silt fence. Got tired of going foward and backing up trying to get around it. Oh well, now the next one won't feel so bad.

Brand X truck pulled you out – hummm - we'll leave that alone! So, is there a winch on your shopping list yet?

It was @ Boyd Lake in Loveland. I got really lucky as I was the only person there until the guy who pulled me out happen to show up. He was a cop from Boulder though so he was really cool and if I ever get in trouble down there, he said to call him.



No winch needed... I'll just go to a lake that is not 40' low next time! Besides, the closest tree to hook onto to pull me out was about 400' feet away!

You still could have gotten yourself out with a winch, spare tire and shovel.

1. Pull cable out to almost maximum.

2. Remove spare tire from truck.

3. Dig big hole and bury spare tire wire winch cable hooked on to it.

4. Start truck and winch yourself out.

5. Dig out spare tire.

6. Go to nearest car wash and clean yourself/ truck



Don't ask me how I learned this trick

That is almost funny... that big 1 ton Cummins Dodge pulling that little watercraft. I guess it's better to have too much truck then not enough. Nice truck, I sure hope you didn't let a ford or chevy pull you out?

Sounds like a neat trick, but how deep would you have to dig that spare? I'd say a good 2' ?



The deeper the better, but a 2' deep hole is enough make sure you cover the tire with the mud/dirt first before you start pulling. It has to do with scope (angle) of the cable. Look under anchors and boating on the web using (scope of anchor chain, etc).

I have though about getting a large anchor (danforth? >50lbs)and then I would not have to dig a hole.

Better yet, I bought a better mud tire and took off the street tires and now I don't worry so much.

I know about the scope/anchor thing. A big danforth might do the trick as it digs in deeper as you pull on it, but man I bet that thing would weigh a ton!

How hard is it to get out out the ground after you have used it?

Does it dig in pretty deep with a large load?

Rotty, The will dig in pretty good depending on how stuck you are. The come out of the ground really easy, just pull it out by hand. They are a great toy, oh yah tool
