Yep Gene it was a fluke making a 7000lbs truck run a 11. 24 @ 120mph it's first year out on just diesel fuel. Of coarse the skeptic that you are, you are probably still not convinced that I did it on just diesel fuel. I wonder if a 10. 50 will convince you at Muncie.

And I think just for you Gene I might hook up to the sled.

Where is your 10. 50??? Can't do it? Hell yeah your scared! Everybody knows your making big power on nitrous. Thats great, but it just so happens that the TS performance truck w/ an inferior 24-valve motor makes very similar hp. I am sorry man I just dont see to many people racing school buses at the local tracks. Racing is power-to-weight. Hello reality!

CumminFast, I have made exactly three passes down the track since I got the new motor form Piers, and I had just put enough miles on it to feel comfortable running it at Denver July 25th. Yes I would have liked to have come to Muncie, but getting the truck back together took much longer than I had planned. The three runs that I have made this year are 11. 07 @ 124. 2 mph, 11. 31 @ 123. 6 mph in Denver on "DIESEL ONLY" and on the 11. 07 run I bent the #6 exh. push rod and did some serious damage to the top turbos compressor wheel. The third run was made in Salt lake on Aug. 13 and I ran an 11. 51 @ 118 mph on "Diesel Only" (btw this was a DHRA event and I had to go through tech) with a blown head gasket, split open discharge elbow, and no boost to the AFC housing (valet switch was on due to pilot error).

I don't know why you are comparing the TS truck to mine (single turbo, massive amounts of NOS, and lighter) Dennis is a good friend and no doubt his truck runs awesome, but his 24 valve is not making similar horespower.

Speaking of power-to-weight the 11. 07 @ 124. 2 mph that my truck ran in Denver (6000'), and the Garmon regular cab Dodge 4X4 12 valve that I think has ran an 11. 09 @ 122mph at near sea level. These are close times but when you factor in the weight (6200lbs your truck, 7000lbs my truck) and the elevation which 12 valve on "DIESEL ONLY" is making more hp & tq? :p :-laf :-{} I put the DIESEL ONLY in caps so it would sink in better.

I would like nothing more than to come race in the East, but because of problems out of my control that may not happen this year. I am far from being scared, so far my record from last year has been beat by only . 19 tenths of a second, and with only three passes under my belt this year (all with problems) I think I will get into the 10's. :D

BTW, I have had some experience with elevation. Last year 11. 88 Denver 6000', 11. 63 Phoenix 1800', 11. 44 Las Vegas 2100' and 11. 28 Houston 78'.

MD2..... Richard... ... ... I don't think CF means you are "scared" per say. It's just that each time we go racing where you are expected to be there, it don't happen. We just would like to see you run. If you did beat one of the trucks down here that would be good. Then they would have to get better. If one wants to be the best, he can't sit on his fist. Work has to continue. By the way, did you build your engine or did Piers? Darren and Matt built there own. All Jeffs done is tune.

SnowRacer. . Thanks. We need somebody to take up for us since we can't get over there. By the way, we're not east. SOUTH, brother, South.

Preston, Yes I had really wanted to go to the TS diesel shoot-out back in May as well as TIM, but I just didn't have the truck running in time. Piers built the engine and I installed it and did all the "tuning", as well as all the fab work on the twins, intercooler and complete 12 valve conversion.

It's funny how the East, South racers have the attitued that the West needs to come out to them to prove something. :{ would love to have you guys come race in Denver where it's a mile up, just ask Fletcher what it's like. He runs 10. 50's up in Washingtion  , but could only manage an 11. 03 in Denver.

Snowracer, I am planning to make it to the Truckin' Nationals this year so I hope to see you there. :D

Richard,

Didn't you change tire sizes during those passes? Meaning, weren't you running 35's in Denver and smaller, stickier rubber later? What were the MPH of each of those passes? My point here is isn't there "other" factors that could have had impact on your times?

You are correct that you are heavier than Darren, but I'd have to see you and Dennis on the same scales. My guess, you two are very close in weight and power. Yes he's running NOS, but he is also running one turbo. His bottle is his twins and I for one think he has done an awesome job. I would have bet this year, no way it would run a 10 in leather comfort. I would have lost. This with a stock motor with the exception of an O-ring head and bolt ons. Dennis' truck is damn fast and powerful.

And if you say you have made all of your passes without NOS, then I will believe you. That means with the flip of a switch you should have a strong 10 pass. I can't wait to hear about it. If you all can ever hook up at the same track, and I mean all of the trucks around the country that would make for one heck of a race. I know there are many fast trucks around the country and more still to come.

Here is what I like. What is takes to go fast.

1 4x4 Dodge 2500 Reg Cab

1 Sun Coast Race Transmission

1 Garmon built and tuned 12v with stock bottom end, stock cam shaft, stock head with O-ring and studs, Jeff's injectors and 13mm pump, off the shelf turbo's, stock intercooler. Now boys that is a low 11 second truck that will run all day. If more people understand that some planning and tuning not just expensive parts, you can go very fast for less dollars. Then we might have more folks on here going stupid fast. ;)

One thing we can all agree on. If your gonna go that fast, make it safe.

Richard, I don't think attitude is the correct word. Pride maybe. It makes me proud that last year you laid down the fastest pass with your truck and this year Jeff had two customers / friends want to compete. And they are!

Elevation comparisons are not as easy as comparing one track to another. Fletcher ran his 10. 52 or what ever it was earlier this year. I'm not sure it is accurate to compare his best ever pass against one during the summer in Colorado. But since I have not raced out there, I don't really know. I am just guessing.

David, as usual your posts are very refreshing to read full of good info, and a positive prospective on things. I very much look forward to meeting you and running my truck on your dyno.

I certainly do not want to take away anything from Dennis Perrys truck, no question it is fast and is a very worthy competitor. He had it down in Houston last December, but had problems and could only get in the low 12's The trucks were next to each other at a shop and there was a very noticable difference in size (length, height) and I would have to say that my truck is at least 400lbs heavier. As far as running NOS thats all I heard last year from some people back East. They sent me Emails or PM's stating they thought I was full of crap if I thought my truck could run that fast on Diesel only and I am getting it again this year, it's funny that nobody from the West coast has said anything, but then again they have seen the truck run. ;) I choose to race such a large truck and who knows how much farther I can go before I get left behind :D

I agree that other things can have an impact on times, but I think the elevation had more than the tire size. Denver, Phoenix, and Las Vegas were all run with 35" tires. As far as MPH, Denver 114mph, Phoenix 118mph, and Las Vegas 118mph.

The trucks were next to each other at a shop
in Houston(Diesel Innovations).

We have seen both trucks in action and I can assure everyone that those 2 trucks would make for a very interesting race.

BTW Snow White must have liked being next to them as she is definitely following in there path.

The engine is going in as we type, just getting some lunch in before we get too dirty. I just hope the suspention works as much as it cost.

On edit We need to hurry up or Joe CC12V is never going to let us forget he just ran a 10. 97.

Actually its Ennis, TX. Nice lil town 32miles south of Dallas. Haven't been back there in a few years so not sure what shape the track is in. I just remember when they first built it and spent alot of time out there.

Don't you guys know that Oklahoma City has a mile long all concrete track just 22 miles from me, the only catch is it's by the river so the air is sometimes higher than normal because of humidity, but I've seen mulitiple records broken there in all classes (gassers).

Jim, Jim, Jim... .

you're not supposed to be in this discussion... . Suncoast trannys only... nobody else can hold the power... .

wait a second... . is that 800 rwhp in your sig? :-laf

How's the track, Jim? What kind of shape is it in? I talked to Jeff this morning and he hollered at me, "lets go west young man". He said he would go if Fletch would. He's gotta have somebody to race. In the Atlas, Norman looks pretty good as far as location. I think that's where those long legged girls in cowboy hats come from. The ones that kick like a chorus line. You did say Norman, didn't you. :{

I bought a colt in Stroud about 25 years ago and the trip there wasn't that bad. Pulling a trailer with a 6 month old Arabian in the back, I drove straight through, with breaks for the foal.

Could they handle the rush of trucks there? You know, like 2-3000 trucks. Can they handle a pull too? We gotta make this happen.

First of all, Hello to my scottish bro and Garmon's camp.

Second of all, Richard your on Nos, and YOU CALL THAT STUFF DIESEL FUEL?

Third of all, I tied my horse's rein around the top board of a 4 plank fence and CAN'T GET THE KNOT OUT. I've spent my entire labor day weekend(3 days) wondering if I should cut the rein or remove the board to free my horse. One thing's for sure, If it starts snowing, I ain't going to be carrying hay up to that fence all winter long.

First of all, I could care less what you think Fletcher. :-{} You just can't stand the fact that you were only . 04 faster than a truck twice your size running on diesel only. Lets face it your running NOS and Water/Meth. :{ :{ :{ :p
