I put 17K on a 94 and the brakes were the only thing that could not be corrected, I put another 14K on a 95 that DC replaced the 94 with and the brakes again caused me concern. Both trucks had leather installed along with many custom items. They both were great trucks but the problems caused me to go to a different brand for the everyday use. When DC came into existance I again began to look at the Cummins, I drove several before I chose to buy, main reason was a GM dealer tried to charged me 800 bucks for a short in a truck with 33K miles and one month out of warranty. The new truck 3500 with everything should have never been sold to anyone, the factory boys left a lot of little problems, little or no paint on many parts, the engine just takes breaks for an hour or two, and the factory installed options are either not there or are not connected. (The fog lights were there but the switch was not, the tow package was on the truck the wire harness was not, and the assembly of the rest of the truck had many missing connections and parts. ) DC took one look at it and determined it was too big a problem and are in the process of replacing it. They have always been very nice in the process and have stood behind the trucks it is just the amount of time going back and forth that is a real pain. I have 7500 miles on this current truck and have had to have it in the shop for 9 different reasons tataling 3 weeks of down time, it has been towed twice while it had a large boat and trailer hooked up, but when it decideds it wants to work it is a good truck.

I would rate all the trucks 8-9 with C then DC to get the brunt of the deduction for not having a real good quality control and not developing the product fully before selling it to the public.

I like the trucks. They are very comfortable and very strong. I have about 4K worth of goodies waiting to be installed on the new truck if and when they get it here.

I've got 64k on my 98. 5 now. It is one nice truck. It would be a 10 if it weren't for 2 failed fuel sending units and a stuck then disconnected horn. I give it a 9.

I have a mere 2500 miles on it. A definite "10"! I don't have dealer-repair experience.
Dealer-sales was top-notch.
Cummins is awesome. 6-speed is awesome. Mileage is awesome. Ride is excellent.
Paint scratches when you look at it wrong.
Never understood why manufacturers don't put identical grab handles on driver side: don't like putting side-stress on steering wheel.
Horn is pathetic: cracks me up.
Wouldn't trade this rig for anything. Gonna keep this as long as possible: hate the designs I've seen for future models...

Have had this one for 1 year 18K miles, only problem I picked up some fuel with water, not the trucks fault! Only complaint is millage, 14. 5 combined city/hwy is a little low for what I haul, (my laptop computer!). Could be how I drive, just took 600 mile trip mostly interstate, did not try and out accelerate anyone, (kept rpm under 1800) averaged 62. 5 MPH and a 20. 7 miles per gallon.

Would buy another Dodge Cummins in a heart beat And would recomend to anyone in the market! Great truck!!!!!

Well..... In rating these trucks I would have to start with my '94 that I thought was the ultimate truck and give it a 9. Still don't know why I got rid of it! Then this
'99 dually has topped the '94 buy a huge two points!! I rate my '99 an 11 if possible. Like fireman dave said the looks it gets rates it a 12!!!! Now my only problem is this white 4X4 dually ETH/DEE at the dealers That keeps calling me #ad
I know I don't need it and mine rides better and is just about paid for but,,,what to do????

A little over 8K miles, and still smiling. Only issue is paint and that strange brake issue. ( look under topic of brakes) had rear passenger door adjusted poor fit.
I rate it a 9.

This is my second Cummins, had 101000, miles on my 1990 when I sold it, had no problems with it. Have 9000 miles on my 2000 just came back from a trip to the Williamette valley and came up the Williamette Pass with 21 ft trailor on behind at 65 to 70 MPH. great truck, I give it a 9 just because of the Mileage.

106K on my 94 when I sold it, new owner has 150K and loves it. I would rate it 8. 7 on the richter scale. I had a few minor problems with wiring and the headlight switch. The 98. 5 had the PCM harness over the left shock tower and wiped out the PCM. Have had the tailshaft seal leak but it repaired itself as did the rear differential seal. Just returned from Lake Powell and was wasted by a phord on a hill. I need to bomb to correct that problem but would rather be driving a Cummins because of its reliability. The boat has a phord 460 and does great but would love to drop in a Cummins marine. This truck gets a 9 with mileage running 19 to 21 mpg at 70 to 75 mph. Cummins SLC tells me they are seeing 600 to 800K on Dodges that come in for service. Roll on.....

My Ram is my FIRST non Ford in over 17 years!

Interior quality fit and finish, comfort, legroom in the rear of the quad cab, intergrated seatbelts that work when seats are reclined . . hands down Ram beats them in this area.

My engine is louder than the strokers . . BUT at least it doesn't sound as if its about to throw a rod! The 5 seperate Y2k units I drove from 3 different dealers . . over a 4 month period . . ALL had the "cackle" after warmup. And I wasn't about to pay 32k+ for something they don't seem to be in a rush to correct. Sure am glad I knew what to listen for . . thanks _ord-Diesel.com!

These 2 items of consideration is what convinced me the Ram would be the better choice for my 30k. And so far it's lived up to expectations.

8500k since mid April. 0-visits to the service isle. 16mpg average city, 19. 5 average hwy ! #ad
10 in my book #ad

I have 10k on a 6 month old 2000 MY truck. I hate spending that much cash, but if I had to do it all over again, I would not hesitate. Great truck. 10

And it'll be around for a long time, I am not one that easily gives up a good vehicle.

I'd rate mine at a 9, I love the truck but I have a few issues to deal with, the steering wander hell, way to many paint flaws and excessive (in my opinion) stock EGT temps. Mine got a new track bar at 800 miles for a defect in the origional, I have 4400 on it now. This is my second ram, I'd rate my 98 a 9 also, I put 25000 on that one and only had a fuel gauge recall done on it but with the auto and 3. 55's it was a major dog while towing. From the looks of the origional link, the Ferd crew has just as many quirks as we do, some are lemons and some run forever.

Its not a hobby anymore, its an addiction!

Hi, this is my first post even though I have been reading for awhile. I drive a 2001 3500 QC 4x4 that I would rate an 8:

-1 Don't have it BOMBed... yet #ad

Second Cummins, the 1995 I sold to my brother at 106k, have 36k on my '99. The 12V wasn't perfect, I didn't like the oversized A piller, only 'cause I never rolled it. I could get over 28 mpg w/ it. The '99 won't do over 21mpg, with the 24V. Guess it gets a 9. Love the acceleration, though the way I use that narrow peddle on the right I hope the auto transmission is better than everyone claims!!! I think I've scared some sports car owners by leaving them behind at traffic lights! It's not perfect, but it's the best I've found...

I give it the big TEN. I love the way this Cummins moves my '96... . and its not bombed in any way, just plain stock 215hp. I've replaced the throttle cable, and probably have the lowest mileage '96 in the north country, just over 30K. Jerry.

I use mine for business and personal use. I love the Cummins, love the looks. The handling is great but have shimmy in 40 to 45 mph range,it comes back at higher speeds. Had other problems but Dodge fixed under warranty. Pulling to the left when braking need to check out brakes.
The Mule has 105,000 on it now still running strong.

picked up my '00 on 1/20/2000 just rolled over 15k commuting 60 miles a day , mileage could be better , but its better than the 98 ram gasser i traded . this is my first diesel , i won't go back , the power is awesome , of course its not stock . i have always been a mopar guy , and though i have owned other makes , i always come back to dodge. most of my dealer experiences have been good , i do hate the "that's normal" and i don't except that for an answer ... i give it a . . 9 ...

now if i could get the cummins under the hood of my 69 superbee #ad

oh i went to the thread posted above and pee'd in the pool ... hehehehe

I'd give mine a 9. 9 only deducting . 1 for the key glow ring that doesn't glow. Hadn't had time to go get it fixed. Mileage is a little over 21. So far the dealer has been good too. Two free oil changes with purchase. I dreamed of owning one of these beast for a long time and I couldn't be happier.

The only problem with my truck (w/me really), is that I'm not home enough to drive it! #ad

I haven't really gotten to know it well yet, but on a preliminary basis (only about 1,100m) I'd give it about a 9. 65. Good mileage, good power, drives well. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to put a trailer behind it, and just generally put some more miles on it.

Had mine since 4/3/00 and with a little over 3,000 miles have had no problems whatsoever. I love this rig. Traded the `95 auto. 12 valve for this ISB 5SPD and the torque and horsepower difference is quite noticeably better! All the talk is true about pulling power. I just bought a `98 Dutchmen 26'TT and pulls it like it`s not even back there! The fit and finish is real good and so is the ride quality. The fuel mileage is getting better all the time. Right now about 18 MPG unloaded city/highway. I am curious how it will be going on a 600+ mile trip this coming weekend pulling the camper. This is the second Dodge diesel I've owned and there is no returning to a gasser pickup again. Especially with the Cummins power under the hood #ad
Arrrghhh!I love this truck second only to my wife and kids. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 9 7/8 because I never give anything a 10. Theres always room for improvement.

HAMMER DOWN!

We have 87k on the 3500. It is my wife's truck, which she'll tell you in a second. God help the person who says to her. . "Wow, your husband lets you drive his truck??" She's a red head you know.

I'd give our 3500 an 8. 5... 'cause as Bobby Bare sang "There ain't no 10s you know". We've had several problems. . cd quit working 1 yr ago but now it works again, stuff like that. All in all it is a super truck.

Just got done BOMBing. Can't believe how much better the dern thing pulls!
