For those who resolve to do better in '16

Wife and I bought each other 2 new pistols for Christmas. We picked up 2 Taurus PT-111 Millennium G2 9mm. Sweet little shooters and we will be using them for our primary carry weapons. Taurus really hit the bulls eye with this pistol!! Comes with 2 magazines and have a capacity of 12+1. So far we have put about 100 rounds through each of them and are planning on adding night sights to them later on. The grips have texture patches that really helps with your grip on the gun and prevents any slippage. They break down for cleaning easily just like the Glock. Selling price is around $290.00 each. Wife really loves the light weight and she is a dead shot with it! (Guess I better start behaving more!! :-laf)

If you are looking for a nice CCW weapon I highly recommend you check this one out!

I had an Millennium (I guess G1), and it was said to be a "problemed gun". I dont remember the specifics.
I had no problems though.

I have the Millennium Pro (which I think are the gen 1s) in both .45 and 9mm and love them! No problems with them either. I love them and would recommend them to anyone.

Make sure to check to see if your pistol is eligible for the rebate the Taurus has in effect until the end of the year. The Millenium G2 9mm and 40 blue model have a $50 rebate.

Here ---> http://www.taurususa.com/taurusonlinerebate.cfm

Purchase must be made between September 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015, and form must be postmarked by January 15, 2016 and received by January 30, 2016

The earlier Gen 1's are under a law suit because they failed the safety drop test. I heard that if you have one you should contact Taurus and they may take it back. Not sure if that is true or not but worth the phone call to them. The G2's (Gen 2) have the corrected parts in them and are not under the law suit.

If memory serves me, it had something to do with the metal subframe and where it met the polymer it...or the polymer cracked.
Dont really remember exactly, it was long ago.
They addressed this in later models, but were NOT going to do anything about the model I owned.
Since I really do not have a need for a gun with a record of failure, I sold it.

Just an FYI ----------

For all those considering the Taurus Millenium G2 please go pick up the Jan 2016 issue of Shooting Illustrated. This issue has the G2 9mm on the cover and the Managing Editor, Daniel McElrath has a great reiview contained inside. Cliff Notes is that he thought it was a great gun at that price point. I could only find it in the hard copy. I imagine later the article will be online

Also check this link on the American Rifleman site. ---> http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2013/8/26/taurus-pt-111-millennium-g2-9-mm-pistol/

Donj't forget the $50 rebate on this gun ends at the end of this year.

Good luck on your search.

I have a PT-745 with this "problem". If you partially pull the trigger while applying the safety you will still have a live trigger. I have no idea how someone would think they should start squeezing the trigger on a live round to set the safety...

Several years ago I took a BNIB PT 145 Pro (.45 caliber) as payment for doing a timing chain on a Toyota pick up. I shot it a few times, cleaned it and put it away and have not fired it since. I was not aware of this issue, I will look into it further.

Thanks!
