I am trying to figure out a problem with my 96 locking and unlocking the TC. I am looking for any more ideas anybody may have. What is really strange is that is seems alot worse when the wind is blowing from whatever direction the passednger side is facing. Here is what I have tried so far:

Different TPS, removed wires from loom, wrapped and ran seperatly, removed TPS all together by using an adjustable pot like Howard and Ridesamule have done (my 95 is curently this way and works great), unhooked grid heater to make sure it wasn't causing any interference, and traced the wires down to the trans to make sure there were no bare spots. I am starting to suspect the PCM or something internal to the trans, but I would think that it would be more constant if that was the case. Anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks!!

Brake sw. , may be able to adjust .
I found it by holding the peddle up with my foot , but that would only work if thats how close to being rite , if yours is father out , I'd have to look at a wiring diagram to tell , if the part that goes to PCM always on or off , meaning that when you hit the brake it tells the PCM to unlock .

As John points out, it could be the brake switch. If replacing the TPS with a potentiometer didn't help and the wiring to the transmission is OK, I would suspect a bad ground. Your 96 may be different but on my 94, pin #4 on the PCM is grounded for signal reference for several of the sensors. Try pulling the large plug off the PCM and hose both the plug and the PCM down good with electronic cleaner. Check pin #4 for any corrosion.

Since it is intermittent, check the wire from pin 4 all the way to the engine ground. It breaks out of the loom at the center of the firewall and runs forward, with several other wires, to the front of the engine.

Make sure the ground from the TPS is good it is attached there also.

In fact, you may be ahead if you checked that connection first.

When looking at things again the other day I found that the rod that the TV cable connects to on the trans is binding inside the tower that the shift linkage bolts to (if that makes sense). So the TV linkage on the trans won't go back more than halfway when the throttle is released. Anyone know if this would cause these symptoms as is appears to be a lot worse after I messed with the linkage.
