Diesel Exhaust System laws??

cat decals?

This new issue SUCKS!!! That is the most boring mag they have ever produced! They need to get some real performance guys to write some articles. At least test some new products too. If I get another issue this boring, I am cancelling my prescription.

Dam, what doctor gave you a prescription for it? I just called 'em up and got a subscription... didn't know the TDR was a disease I had to have a prescription for... . better look into it a little deeper I guess.

BOMBing on the other hand... now THERE is a disease the TDR is a good prescription for! :) :D

Wait a minute... . there's a printed magazine?!! :-laf

The TDR magazine never gave me credit for the "You might be a diesel head if... " that they had on the back cover for like 3 issues. That's plagiarism, IMHO. I stopped reading it after that.

I'll stop while I'm ahead of the game... no sense complaining about something I don't read anymore (but pay for... ).

Every once in a while, I like to toss in a small homily or two:

There's one born every minute

Ya can't please everyone, all the time... ;) ;)

That mag has to be written to please a WIDE customer base with equally wide interests and expectations - it's not realistic to expect it to rate a "10" on YOUR specific list the majority of the time...

"Ya hafta take the bad with the good" ;) :)

Gary's right - his point is why I don't care to moan about the TDR magazine too much.

With 19,000+ people subscribing to something - not everyone wants to hear about 'Barn Chicks and Burnouts'... . even though someone would make a mint selling such a publication to some people I know. :-laf

My only beef about the newest issue - Nothing about HVAC. I am sure many of the readers of TDR that don't look at the site have been helped out by Nowel's words in the magazine.

If there are articles you'd like to see you need to push/ask people to write those articles! The majority of the articles in the magazine are submissions from people. If it's submitted it will be published - I can almost guarantee it. So if you want to see articles from certain vendors, people, etc - ask them.

Or putting it another way "sometimes we got to take a little Lean with the Fat". :-laf

1st gen gets a large section, 2nd gen gets a couple of pages, 3rd gen gets a HUGE section. Whats up with that?

Hey Steve , and other admin. Here's an idea for either the site, the mag, or both.

We need a section that is full of stickies for each years known problems, verified solutions and "How to's";

KDP, 5th gear nut, gauge and injector installs, boost and fuel pressure noise and fixes, loose mirrors and swaps, pump replacement, pump relocation, track bar testing and fixes, brake conversion, 2 low conversions, procedure for checking codes, resetting sensors, and so on.

I realize that DodgeRam.org has some of this, and one can always search, but sifting through a search result of more than 25 can be daunting at best, especially on some subjects that have been beat to death (APPS/TPS, Lift Pump, Surging, Codes... )

I have found a couple of solutions to problems that were over 2 years old, and found them by sheer luck and accident.

It is not my intention to be disagreeable but I have a different opinion.

I think the TDR magazine is excellent and improves with each issue. I read all the articles and keep all of my old copies to refer back to when questions arise.

In my opinion, the TDR magazine ranks with the best publications in the automotive industry.

To Robert and to each of the many TDR writers I say well done and keep up the good work.

I'm sure many would say it sucks to repeat old articles in every issue. Like scientific journals, you should keep or buy old issues because a topic is generally covered only once. Rag journals like many gun, hunting, and car mags seem to have a small stockpile of topics and they cover them again and again. Subscribe for a couple years, and you have a lifetime supply.

It can be hard to come up wioth something new, and partial repetition is both inevitable and valuable on some topics. The dowel pin was covered maybe a half dozen times, for example. As we learned more, it appeared in articles by various TDR members. I remember the 2nd gen fuel tank gauge sender issue being covered numerous times too.

Right now the 3rd gen is the "hot topic" and when the second gen was the hot topic where most of the new stuff was happening, the first genners were upset that their page count was less. All I can say is if you have something, send it in.

Most of the stuff that interests me is the tech stuff - I enjoy reading it, and when I think *I* have something of general interest, I enjoy taking some pictures and posting here on the board. The mag is fine for general interest - but my main interest is HERE - if all the TDR was the mag, I wouldn't subscribe!
