This cam is meant for towing, although it did pretty good in the couple street races I had.

I can't quote the price as per the rules, but the kit will be less than $600. 00 exchange.

OK, barely keeping up with a truck that weighed 3000#s more than you, yea, it did ok. ;)

Under $600??

Once again, Piers proves to be a TDR member's best friend, not a milker of the cash cow.

How the heck did I miss out on this 'test-bed' opportunity?!

That's okay... . it's money well spent no matter what. Piers, just put it on my tab... :D

Very well put Gene! Piers is truly one heck of a guy for us Dodge owners.

Well now that we know who's on the tester list, where is the signup sheet for the production versions. These babys are gonna be hot items. Want to get my name on on the list now.

I most certainly am interested as well. I would also like to hear about differences between these and the various cams offered by Dave Mitchell, especially since they are close to the same price spectrum.

I have been courious about Mitchell cams for a while and have not called and asked because I am not yet near a cam time. But since my transmission is getting work soon(next 4 months) it's getting closer.

I do know that Mitchell has several different cams, but from what I understand, most of them involve cutting the piston. Piers' cam does not have to have this done.

Wanting to hear more,

When my motor was apart, I called EE to ask them about cams.

They asked about my application. I told them, that I wanted to begin sled pulling and drag racing, but my truck is also a daily driver. I pull trailers around at work and use my truck as a truck on a regular basis. Doug told me that of all the cams they offered the best cam for me would be the marine cam. That really shocked me. Since my engine was completely apart, I thought I would be the prime candidate for a big cam and cutting the pistons since they were already out. But that was EE's recommendation on that particular day.

That's what I went with.

I'll be able to directly compare Piers's cam with the marine cam. That sounds like it will be of interest to a few of you.

Piers let me drive his truck at Muncie. I was impressed with how hard it pulled with virtually no smoke. It spooled up his HX-40 much better than I expected as well.

I'm looking forward to testing it.

Thats a dido for me. I feel lucky to have been choosen to test for the 1st gen, as i know lots of people would love to test anything Piers touches. :D

I will do my best to give a all around performance evaluation, while towing, rat raceing, grocery getting and highway driving.

I drive my truck every day for a work truck and personal usage, which includes pulling a blown alcohol mud bogger around B. C. for races, so i'm tracking varyies temps, boost, mpg and smoke output now, to compare with the new cam, so Piers will have hard facts to compare with.

You will hear it all, good or bad. As Piers wants the facts before marketing a product that end users pay and trust will do what PDR claims.

I'm with Strick-9 and nascar mark on the quote "I'm looking forward to testing it".

I feel very priviledged and lucky to be one of the testers for this new Piers product! I am not sure exactly when I will recieve the cam but as soon as it is in I will let everyone know.

This is what I like about Piers, he wants this tested prior to release. It would have been easy to just put it on the market for all to buy, but he wants it to perform correctly.

Doug

TTT, any you tester boys got these installed yet. Too early to give us a final report, how about the initial seat of the pants impression.

Mine's in. You have to remember that I didn't come from the stock cam. I swapped out the marine cam to try Piers' new cam.

I can't compare the switch between stock and this cam.

That's very important when reading my results.

Compared to the marine cam:

Spoolup is amazingly better. I'm running an H2E/17 so spoolup is easily noticeable.

overall drivability is very impressive.

Much more responsive around town.

Low end smoke decreased a TON.

I ran a 1/4 mile with my g-tech (marine cam) and got 16. 6 @ 102. 2 mph.

It was an exact duplicate of most of my runs in Muncie. (no drugs)

With Piers cam, I went 16. 2 @ 104. 8mph.

Piers told me it was designed more for pulling and driveability and not raw HP. I was very shocked to pick up 2. 6 mph in the 1/4.

All testing was done on the same day 7 hours apart. The temperature had changed only 4°.

I ran a lot of tests before and after and have a few pages of data. I don't trust my seat-of-the-pants-ometer for anything.

Of course I'm still playing with it. I'm very curious to hear from the people coming from a stock cam. That data would be much more useful for most of you.

I hated that marine cam since the day I put it in. I'm not easily impressed by any product. But this cam did it.

A four tank average of fuel mileage with the marine cam was 12 mph. I can't wait to see if that improves.

Soon, as i talked to Al as Piers left for California.

Hoping for later this week if time permits.

Have all the figures needed with stock cam.

Sounds promising Strick 9. Keep us up to date with mpg etc.

I thought I might be the perfect candidate for the cam as I'm going to drive up there and talk/visit with them(I'm in Portland Or. now) but two days before I left Oklahoma the Home A/C unit went south! I was going to try Injectors and D/V's and look at the changes then think about the cam... . guess this wasn't my time;)

Jim

Greetings everybody!!

I've been around for a while, but this my first time to tell anything because I did'nt think I had anything to say that would be of any interest to anybody.

Well, I'm here to tell you all about the sweet little cam that Piers "asked" me to try in my old 12 valve. I really can't tell about the cam all by itself because it went in when I put on the Piers ported & O-ringed head (the head on Piers tailgate at Muncie).

I've only put about 150 miles on the new parts , so these are all initial impressions.

Idle egt - down 50 to 75 degrees

Cruise egt - down 200 to 250 degrees

Wide open thru the gears - still pegs the guage(1500) BUT, not till the top of third gear and halfway thru fourth.

Spool up time - with hx-35/16, probably 30 to 40 percent faster than before

with PDR hx-40/16, a little lag from 1300 to about 1500 ,then the response is like you would'nt believe if I tried to describe it
