2001 Texas Rally was Great!!

Texas Rally images are posted here!

Ok, another update:

I've only got 4 replies about a hotel room. The hotels I've talked to need a minimum of 10 rooms reserved to offer a group rate. I talked to the manager at Budget Inn in Kerrville. The rooms there cost 44. 95 for a single bed and 54. 95 for a double. That is the best rate I've found there. If anyonw knows of a better rate, please post it here.

I spoke with the campsite about working on the trucks there. They said it wouldn't be a problem as long as we keep the area clean and attractive.

If there is anything I'm missing, let me know please

Vendor

The local Dodge dealer I previously mentioned is an official vendor. It is Heart of Texas Dodge in Austin. They are bringind door prizes, goodies,& possibly 2 trucks for display. Any of you are looking for factory parts or special orders of any kind & want them delivered to you at Kerrville can contact them at 800-580-7026. Be sure to ask for Louis Jahn as he is the person putting this together. Also tell him where you got this info.

put me down...

gitchsum,

I just e-mailed you about a hotel. Can't wait for this thing. Didn't know if I was going to get to go or not.

Also I would like to thank gitchsum, and Rd. Runnr for putting this thing together.

I think I may need to clear something up.

I'm not able to actually reserve the hotel room for you. Since we don't have enough people to get the group rate, ya'll need to call which eer hotel you want to stay in. I posted a link to the hotels in the area. I just posted the Budget Inn because they were the cheapest.

Sorry if there was any confusion.

Jim, Great News on the dealership. Good to see there are still people out there that value the customer.

I'll be going early, we could meet at 71 & 281 or 290 & 281.

I'll be coming from Pflugerville, so I guess 290 @ 281 makes the most sense. What time do you want to meet? What about the rest of you Austin guys?

I suggest 290 to Fredricksburg and then south to Kerrville especially if you are towing. The road from 281 to Kerrville is 2 lane with twists and turns and hilly. The other way is a little longer but much quicker and easier driving. I'll be going out Sat morning and would like to meet up but I can't remember a good spot to meet. Somewhere on 290 between Austin and the 281 junction would be good.

Question??

Do you have a dress code??? Do I need a Ten Gallon hat. Can I wear shorts with my snake skin boots?? ;)

The last time I had on a pair of Cowbody boots was to impress a Girl and take a Country western style dance lesson. Well That backfired on me!! First off She was doing the samething thinking I wanted to do that. We both found out later we hated it. :)

I haven't worn the boots since we got married 7 years ago. I guess now that I am getting divorced I need to polish them up. :)

Dang Kurt, that was one of those posts that makes you start to say, "Ah, how romantic," then quickly follow that up with "DOH!" I think the dress code ought to be "the tackier the better" ;) I'm pretty fond of wearing Hawaian (pronounced hy-wy-ann) shirts with my straw cowboy hat myself but I'm generally a little sharper dresser than the average guy LOL :p

If you think of a place (somewhere off of 183 or Mopac?) let me know- we can convoy from there and meet up with Texas Diesel down the road.

Slosh on some good cologne

The best choice of cologne for the

weekend is #2 diesel. . just a dab

behind each ear ought to do it! :D

How about a dance saturday night if that big building is available. Maybe some 50s R+R and some Country music for starters.

that would be great....

I would love to do some dancing there. My girlfriend and I go about every chance we get, that's 3 times a week. We mostly country dance, with the occasional jitterbug.

I was out there back in the summer at the Arts festival and there was a local group playing, don't remember the name but there was one female in the group, they did a lot of blues stuff. Hey maybe Willie would come or does George Strait drive a Dodge? bg

If someone is willing to handle the details, I'm sure it could be done. I'll confirm with the campsite tomorrow and let ya know.

They've told me in the past, that as long as we're respectful of the other campers, we can do just about anything we want to.

Well I guess I have procrastinated long enough. I'll try to remember to call in my reservations this week. I keep forgetting for some reason. I guess I was hoping the camping fees would go down with the Fed's rate adjustments:)

For you Austin area guys... . For a meeting place, how about the Oak Hill Y where 290 and 71 meet. There is an Albertsons shopping center with a big parking lot.

Any other ideas for a location or time ??
