Texas Rally images are posted here!

unable to e-mail

Jim Killen, I got your e-mail but can't seem to get a reply delivered. To answer your question concerning things to do:There are many things your family will enjoy while you enjoy the Rams. One of my favorites is The Cowboy Artists Musuem. Also, Fredricksburg is nearby-lots of tourist related stuff there. Probably will have other folks ready to go see & do.

Oak Hill "Y" sounds good- any place around there to get a decent breakfast?

I guess we need to be at Kerrville around 9 or 9:30am- how long does it take to get there from the "Y"?

best guess

Just went through all pages of this post, all my notes, e-mail etc. As of saturday I counted a total of 65 names. Some listed more than 1 truck, I am sure some vendors will be bringing trucks . Speaking of vendors--will you who have commitments for a vendor please post that info. Thanks.

Jim,

Kerrville Off-road Truck Supplies and A-1 Transmission both said they were coming. A-1 is an authorized DTT shop.

For anyone who wants to tent camp

This was asked on the LSTDR forums.

For those who don't have a camper and that would like to have a place to pitch a tent, there is a KOA campgrounds about a mile and a half from the rally camground.

Here is thier website

There are number that you can call to make reservations on that site.

Say Merrick, how much does this place cost man? My girl and I are plannig to get a hotel, but haven't even had time to look at any kinda list.

I know that you are young like me, so you might want to call to see if you have to be 21 to check in. In Plano, where my girl lives during the summer, city law says you got to be 21. I don't know if one of your friends is 21, just want to make sure you got no problems once you drive all that way.

TxDieselKid,

sent you a PM,

I'll have to check up on the 21yr old minimum age, as I am,,uh, should I say, "under aged".

I'm 18 yrs old, I may be taking two friends, one is 16yrs, and the other 19yrs.

I will be staying (if they let me in :) ) for the night of the 28th only, it is unlikely that I will be staying the night of the 29th, especially if I take my cousin (the 19yr old) as he has responsibilities at Church services on Sunday morning.

While up there, I plan on buying a PE COMP and a BHAF. and then hope my clutch doesn't slip. It doesn't slip now with 78K on the odometer.

EDIT: from what I can tell on the internet, the Rate is $49 a night for two people. I'm cheap :) when it comes to temporary stuff, like hotels.

I'm bringing two other people and two trucks to add to the list. :)

I can't wait.

any 1st gens?

I was just wondering if any other 1st generation trucks are going to be there or if it's only gonna be 94+. It's no fun if you are the only one with the same type truck as you.

Regardless of the current events, I still plan to attend

I found out today my employer, Continental, is

planning on a 12,000 employee furlough. I hope

to be lucky enough that this does not impact my

quality of life or my carrer. Without being

selfish, I feel very lucky to still have my job

right now. Midway airlines has completely closed

down. There are likely other airlines and

businesses related either directly or indirectly

to the airline industry that will without a

doubt be affected, ie the Travel Agents and

hotel industries.

It is somewhat unnerving that the same type of

aircraft the devils chose to use as their weapon

of destruction, the Boeing 757 and 767, is also

the same type that I fly regularly as co-pilot.

I have yet to fly since the events of Sept 11,

and I am not looking forward to the changes that

I will have to endure on the job, the worst being

that question in the back of my mind, what if... ?

Regardless of what is going on, I still look

forward to the TDR gathering in Kerrville at the

end of the month. As of right now I am sheduled

to be off that weekend, but with the restructuring

of the airline industry, I may be assigned a trip

that weekend but chances are slim that will

happen.

I hope to see you all there.

Texas Rally Supper at Kerrville/Buckhorn

Okay guys!

It's about time a lady stepped in here! My name is Sandy (Mrs. Rustyjc) and I've offered my services to Curtis "Gitchesum" and Jim "Roadrunner" to pull together the Rally Supper for our meeting! Apparently you fellas can talk BIG TRUCKS, but you need a lady's help with the food talk!!!!!

I'm sure you guys are going to have to get your ladies involved in this one! We're expecting at least 85 there for the rally supper - so here's the plan: I'm going to outline below what is needed and how many we need of it!

IF EVERY COUPLE WILL BRING ONE DISH (LARGE ENOUGH TO FEED AT LEAST 10 -12 PEOPLE) THEN WE SHOULD HAVE ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED THIS HUNGRY BUNCH... . and more.

To sign up: email me PERSONALLY at -- email address removed -- (note it's the number ONE not the letter "L") and let me know exactly what you'll be bringing. Every day I will post a note on this forum with what folks are bringing.

ADDITIONALS: I'll need some volunteers to bring one or two big 10 gallon or bigger insulated jugs of ice tea and a couple volunteers to haul in two ice chests with ice!

Appetizers: 6 people to sign up for appetizers

Meat Dishes/ Casseroles: 8 people to sign up for this

Salads: 8 people to sign up

Potato Dishes: 8 people to sign up

Veggie Dishes: 8 people to sign up

Desserts: 8 people to sign up

Paper Products are being supplied by Curtis (thank you!) so you won't have to bring your own eatin' gear!

Let's get this list figured out!

Count

I also e-mailed Sandy this info. I may need to clear this up. When I give a count I am referring to driver's only. The number of people who tag along are not reflected. Also not counted are vendors. This thing is gonna be bigggg!!

This is Wayyyy cool.

I will be thinking of what I can take for food.

Anyway,, is there anyway to find out what kinda of vehicles will be there?

I would like to talk to a few guys about my truck, and my cousins early '91 1-ton truck.

Maybe just a nuemerical list.

Thanks,

MerrickNJr

WHOOOOOPEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Verlyn of Fast Coolers has donated a set of fast coolers ( for the NV-4500-5600 ) to be given away as a door prize. I'll bring them with me on Saturday.

Thanks for your support of the LSTDR Verlyn!

Good luck,Chris N5CWM we should not have to change our life style to suit Terrorist and haters of Freedom. At the end of the week I will be flying to Durango, Colorado with my wife to visit our son and look at the scenery, and have confidence in men like you and our President.

I am not fool hardy, and will not give up my Libertys or Freedom.
