many people are having great luck with the ppe, it drives the fastest common rail in canada NADP's gold truck @ 11. 50. many others are also using it with good luck, it is a timing and duration box, so stacking it with a pressure box will really help too. personally i think it gives the user more top end than any other box i have used, but less low end-- i think because it floods the cylinders with more fuel than there is air to burn too soon.

I was kinda curious of how the ppe downloader would stackup against the smarty? I like the smarty over my bullydog power pup , but now since I cannot get the top end back in the newer programmers I may have to look somewhere else

Sorry, I meant to say, since I cannot get the latest and greatest update from smarty that has the top end power of the older smarty versions, I may need to start looking else where, jr

Have we heard from Marco lately? no. I am sorry but Marco is without dsl until the new lines are installed at MADS.

Marco will perfect the top end and we know it.

Just look what we have to offer in such short time

Lets give Marco a chance to get settled.

Thanks

The Smarty lacked a little on the top end on my truck as well... . Im sure the tst wouldve picked it up but they wouldnt play nice on my truck.

I've never tried a ppe. Im sure its a strong box.

I've had really good luck with my bully dog. It stacked with the tst put down 660 with stock injectors. Its a strong combo. Tim Barber has had great success with that stack as well... .

I really need those RPM's up they are killing me when it comes to sled pulling. either I have to shift (auto) and lose mometum or I have to hold the pedal to the floor and lose my top end (3 grand) and slowly coming to a screaching halt. Now i was think if I had the PPE and I stacked it with my current banks 6 gun with speed loader with dyno time to get it the right setting I feel I could hold that I could keep getting it and stay away from the RPM limiters that suck power as they get close to peak rpm. The guy I am trying to beat has a 12v with a blue chip diesel Redline Box that goes all the way to 5 grand and he is tough to beat holding the same gear all the way through the pull. My math calculations tell me he is going about 35-38 with sled when he makes a full pull.

Ppe

I have it and run it frequently. I have the HOT version and run head-to-head with the original factory loaded SMARTY they were 4 hp apart on the dyno. Marco's new downloads may be better but for right now I'm not the guy to ask as I've got truck problems. It was nice however to have my butt-o-meter validated as I have commented on several occassions that the PPE & SMARTY were neck n' neck. The PPE HOT, at least on my truck puts down 6psi more boost than the SMARTY. Not that that is a big deal but for some who are not ARPed yet then it may matter. Frankly I prefer the 54psi my SMARTY does. I can't wait till I find my gremlin and can feel the love my CTD has to give me. :D

I think if Marco really works hard, once he gets his DSL line back up that he can give us the top end horse power we use to have in the older programs. Maybe even 15 % or so more than the older versions up top would be nice.

What problems did you have with the stack... Not trying to post jack...

I am having surging in the top end... 10# boost jumps at higher rpm's

pipeguy,

I had severe timing rattle when stacked with the tst on even (no timing) settings. When I took the Smarty off my truck it had a ton of problems. It was blamed on the bully dog...

I have got the problems fixed now and I can run the bully dog/tst stack again!!!! Now all I need is a big set of Flux injectors and more air.....

Sorry for the hijack...

I think your barking up the wrong DL. I've read I don't know how many threads and posts from guys with big singles who have surging problems. I doubt it has anything to do with any box or DL.

AND THE FIX WAS?

We dont really know... . Today we were driving and my girlfriend made the comment that it sucked that I couldn't use the tst since I loaded the smarty on my truck... I told her that it would be a waste of time but I would try it. Sure enough... . No timing rattle!

I've talked to some diesel gearheads (since they know alot more than me... lol) and they seem to think the ECM holds a memory and it took time to get the smarty of the system if you will... .

This is just their opinions...

All I know is Im EXCITED!!! I finally got my old stack back.

Now its time to get on the dyno at Floor It and get started on twin cp3s and the right Fluxs.

Thanks to all who took time to help me through my midlife crisis while my truck was gimped up. LOL

12V with a blue chip? Do you mean 24V??

I have never had a surging problem till I put on the SMARTY...

If I turn off the tst it goes away...

If I run 1-1 on the TST it is not too bad... ?
