I’ll be honest, even if the pedal commander doesn’t reduce torque management, and doesn’t increase actual power, the psychological effect of putting less pedal down and having your truck go way faster is worth it to me. I’ve run tests on myself to make sure I’m not just having a placebo effect by turning it off, driving the truck (which is miserable after driving with it on) and then turning it back on again, and the difference is drastic. Please keep in mind, it is not and will never be a race truck. I had a ‘97 12 valve with 1400 lb/ft of torque, and it’s not that. But it accelerates fast and smooth and definitely reduces a lot of the small shifting issues and slowness off the line that my Aisin equipped truck exhibited without the pedal commander. As mentioned above, I did run the BD originally, and did not like it at all. It does not provide nearly the same level of “acceleration” and smoothness that the pedal commander does. It also caused a lot of random throttle position codes to be thrown. I have not had a single code or issue from the pedal commander. I run it at the street +2 setting.

Do they offer them for the HO? The description I saw said Standard Output only.
I emailed Pedal Commander. Here was the response.

Good Morning I hope your week is off to a good start, Some of the forum members you are speaking about might be using our older P4 units that did not have Bluetooth, We ran into an issue with our BT module pulling too much power from the sensor causing the trucks to go into a limp home mode, I think we have it fixed with our new units that should be landing soon I am just trying to source a 6.7 HO for a day of testing, Make sure you are following us on the social media channels for product launch date as I know you 6.7HO guys are foaming at the mouth to get them in your hands.

They were preparing to send me a shipping label because she didnt have an ETA on the HO version and I got this from Pedal Commander today:
"Hello Dean we actually came out with a High Output. Would you like to swap the unit for the high output."

Just do it! ;)

Let us know how it works out.

How is your original unit working?

I didnt put it in. I was going to but they said the "older model" may have worked for some on the HO because it didnt have bluetooth. They said the bluetooth version caused lots of codes for the HO's. The one I received had bluetooth so I didnt want to risk the codes it throws.

Installed easy peasy. I installed the app on my phone for control instead of having the control unit mounted out in the open. The control unit looks good, I would just rather keep it hidden, at least for now. I started on city plus 2 and worked my way up to sport plus 4, backed it down to sport plus 3 as that gave the desired feel I wanted. Didnt bother going into the sport + mode. Maybe I'll play with it later just to see the whole scope of the device but I'm pleased with the results of the settings I'm on. My 20 year old son went with me, he thought it was a power adder until I told him it wasnt.

Friends,

I was driving my 2017 5500 a few days ago and noticed it was really responsive, a little too much even. Took a few minutes to think to look at the sensitivity level and sure enough it was on 400%. I like it on 50 percent increase. My wife moved the truck and managed to change the setting on it.

Just that I'd share a sensitivity story.:p

Cheers, Ron

New update. I'm guessing a little here that the transmission (Aisin) has gone through the learning process. My driving style really hasnt changed but there is a definite difference in the way the truck acts acceleration wise and shift wise after running around these last few days. The truck really picks up quick now from 0-30. Shifts have changed, the shifts are quicker...not just getting to a shift point faster but the actual shift time from gear to gear is quicker. I have no worry about pulling out into traffic, its steps right up but is not super aggressive.
I have not towed with it yet though I think this setting will be fine for towing. If anything I anticipate maybe dropping sensitivity down one or two steps. IMO it was definitely worth the money. Truck should have come from the factory feeling like it does now. This is just a swag and not backed up by anything but my presumption is that in some way torque management is affected even if only to small degree. The acceleration does not "feel" like a simple matter of increasing throttle position and tip in. Just my thoughts, take it for what its worth.

Friends,

I have the Edge Amp'd throttle booster on my 2017 to solve a less then 1% problem: pulling out into heavy traffic solo. I like it, so here's my theory how it helps: It seems to fool the truck programming for torque management to a point, allowing a little more performance on the low end. I believe the combination of throttle position, load, speed, and gear its in affects the degree of torque management applied (no revelation here). Towing, I have ABSOLUTELY no complaint about factory torque management and performance and about 99% of the time driving sols. And I'm happy with improvements in driving solo, specifically pulling out into heavy traffic. Remember, my C&C weighs around 12Klb solo. Could I have lived without the throttle booster? Probably. Is it 100% solution? No, but it's improving my 1% problem. With this improvement, I guess I'll STILL just have to drive it like a large, heavy (duty) tow vehicle.

As a note, my 2017 Ram 5500 has MORE torque management than my former 2009 Ram 4500. I little harder comparing them though as I had a Smarty on my 09 turned up to level 5, adding 90HP and ~180Lb Ft TQ. Smarty was VERY good at adding usable power. I'm a conservative driver, so I didn't hurt the transmission/ driveline with the increased HP and TQ.

I have friends with 2017 and 2018 Cummins Rams, 2500s and 3500s, with 68RFE and Aisin transmissions, and none of them complain about pedal delay or torque management, AND I NEVER bring it up to them.

Just my two cents.

Cheers, Ron
I run an S&B CAI, MBRP exhaust, and the TS Performance Stryker. I have no desire to alter my throttle sensitivity. Never thought it was lacking. I pull a stock trailer loaded with 12k-ish in cattle (+3k trailer) and still have no problem with the factory throttle.

I had installed juice with attitude some time back but just got the cable replacement to make it functional. Been running it on level one (25hp/70tq) this past week as I dont really need more power, I just happened to pick it up for the same price as just the CTS2 monitor. Over the past week I have backed the Pedal Commander down 2 steps. I am very pleased with my truck now, it is dialed in about as perfect as I could have ever hoped.

Do these pedal systems work on the C&C trucks? I am overall very happy with my truck but sometimes if I start to push the pedal and then let up and then go to stomp it, there is the "dead pedal" issue. Truck has a simple "turn the junk off" tune and 5" pipe with no power enhancement.

Pedal Commander has a model for "non high output" that I imagine would do fine on a C&C as it is not changing any engine settings. A call is probably the best option.

comrades - i installed the BD power tsbooster a few days ago on my 2018 2500 g56. very happy. i should have done this 3 years ago. happy !
- from genos.
- accelerator pedal no longer feels like a stir stick in a bucket of paint.
- the dead pedal is greatly improved.
- its NOT made in CHINA.

cheers! :)
