Was headed to Minneapolis yesterday and had the cruise on for quite some time. Had to slow down in some small town for a stoplight. Went to take off and it felt like the pedal wouldnt let me accelerate. I could sort of get it to move but could never get any power or get over 2000rpms. Stopped at a gas station and got under the hood and forced the linkage by hand and finally got it to move back and forth. Drove away and is still working fine. What do suppose happened there? Is there something that I need to lubricate?

You might want to check the ends of the throttle rod. The ends can stick or be kind of rough. I give mine a squirt of LPS#3 every oil change to prevent that kind of thing.

I would guess your cruise actuator is sticking and I agree spray some light moisture displacing products on the linkages. It was very cold in the MN area yesterday so I don't think it was icing, just sticking.

LPS#3 is a lube, not a water displacement product. A water displacement product like WD40 will eventially evaporate. LPS#3 is kind of heavy so it will stay in the joint and prevent water from getting into it.

I know there was a recall for my '96 on the throttle cable linkage. When mine was replaced the cable was frayed down to only a couple strands and was starting to hang up. Might want to check if there's a recall for your '98.

I would second what Woodenhead said, as I had a recall on my '98 12V that replaced the throttle cable and some linkage points because there was a possibility of the throttle sticking.
