I've heard a couple things mentioned on here about a "TIPM Saver" which protects the needlessly complex and expensive (Thanks Chrysler!) "Totally Integrated Power Module. "

If such a thing exists, does anyone know where to go to get one?

Motorhead was making them but I think that he stopped, someone else was looking at taking the unit over.

Also was designed to protect the TIPM from trailer shorts and issues, not for headlight protection.

Check this link out, then do some more searching using "TIPM Saver" in the search box.

TIPM Saver no more

AHarris,

TDR member Motorhead, the designer and builder of the TIPM Saver, and I have been in contact for awhile to try to make arrangements where I would buy the design and business from him.

Unfortunately for all 2006 and newer Ram truck owners, we both abandoned the idea due to the litigatious nature of modern society... . Long story, short, neither of us wanted to risk our savings and/or homes should one of these fine units ever be suspected or implicated in an accident, no matter how unlikely that might be.

Yeah,an LLC for a start and then we need to follow England's lead for tort reform. You launch a frivolous lawsuit and lose, you pay all the court costs, both sides.

That would slow down all this crap.

That's a real shame. If all entrepreneurs were this cautious there would be no free market or entrepreneurship left in this country. Good thing H&S, Smarty, Geno's Garage and Bullydog don't feel this way, or there'd be no tuners, delete kits, or useful Cummins accessories available. Besides, there are ways to minimize product liability exposure through a combination of properly setting up your LLC, insurance, and thorough product testing. You should reconsider, or sell the design to someone else. Heck, maybe Geno's would carry it.

You need enough market to cover all the expenses you listed plus profit in an amount that makes it worth while. Remember, you don't work for nothing, neither should any one else.

I think that the TIPM Saver is an excellent product that meets a real need for 3rg, and likely 4th gen , trucks.

An LLC would certainly be the way to go, but with the family and work comitmments that I have now, I do NOT have time to get into building and marketing the TIPM Saver right now.

And even if Genos would carry and market them, then they would have to be able to buy them at a substantial discount, and there is not really THAT much money to be made per unit, unless of course one started sourcing cheaper China osurced components or hiring cheaper unskilled labor to assemble them, which is exactly what I would NOT want to do.

Actually, it would likely be ideal if Genos would build something like this, as I am sure that they have both the knowledge and infrastructure and insurance to do so!!! I don't know if Motorhead would be willing to sell his design and/or name to them, but that would be a viable option if he did!!

I, however, will need to be out of the loop on this one, despite my desire to offer something useful to members here!!
