I need opinions on gauges!

On my '93 Cummins I ran 45 lbs of air in the front tires and took them off at 72,000 miles because they were weather checked real bad. That took 5 years.

On my '98 I ran 45 lbs and they are wearing out on the outside. I think I will only get 55,000 miles out of them. I jacked the pressure up to 50lbs now.

My tires are OEM Michelins. How much air should the front tires have?

you should fill the tires to the amount marked on the door post sticker. It doesnt matter who makes the tire

I carry 60 on the 265-75R16 Michelins. I have a 66 gallon fuel tank so a little heavier than some trucks. 21,000 miles on them and look real good. When towing I put the rears at 75.

The tire manufac. puts the correct tire pressure on the side wall to give the max tire milage and performance... .....

The auto manufac. puts the tire pressure on the door sill to give you the best ride and could care less about milage.....

If its wearing on the edges then its under inflated, wearing in the center then its a little over inflated... ... . Pete

The sticker on the door of my truck is for 245 tires, even though it was delivered with 265 tires. Acording to the tire inflation guide, they are not the same. BEWARE OF THE DOOR STICKER. My theory is to interpolate the min-max pressure numbers from the tire guide based on loaded axle weight. I only have 2000 miles on the truck, so take my advise accordingly.
