Tow mirrors HELP

Looking at a brand new truck without tow mirrors dealer says he can put the tow mirrors on it bolt on and plug-in no problem, is this true all electric will work fine. thanks so much need to make a decision quick all responses will help. It's a 2017 Laramie loaded. Except for tow mirrors.

They were able to on my 07. Dealer had 2 trucks on the lot, one with tow mirrors, one with out. I wanted the truck that did not have the tow mirrors, but wanted the mirrors. They switched mirrors with no problems.

It is a bit more than a plug in but it can be done

I would get it in writing that you will have full function.

How's it a bit more is there anything they could screw up and break

Since you are going to spend a lot of money.....buy exactly what you want, not what the dealer wants to sell you. Ram builds quite a few of these trucks so the exact truck you want is most likely out there......tell the dealer to find it for you.......

I believe that the tow mirrors require an internal brace be installed in the door. Extending that weight further from the truck leads to a little more torque pull on the sheet metal.

Either way, I would have the mirrors installed BEFORE signing any agreement to purchase. That way you can see for yourself that everything works.

My 2015 didn't have tow mirrors and had the dealer install them when I bought the truck. The tow mirrors came with a light on each side that comes one with the interior lights and the yellow turn signal. The original mirrors didn't have the lights but they work with the tow mirrors. The only thing with mine (and could be a programming error by the dealer) the electric mirror adjust doesn't switch directions when the mirror is turned up for towing. So the buttons to move the mirror up and down, now turn the mirror side to side, etc.

The option code must be added to the corporate data base then the the truck can be reconfigured .This will also ensure your new mirrors will be covered under your factory warranty

If I remember correctly, there was more than one person complaIning about electric mirror operation and that the mirrors did not recognize when they were in tow position .... as a result the adjustment buttons didn't work as designed.

Read post 9 this will correct that issue
