I have noticed a few times while driving about 60 to 70 mph in OD and on cruise control ,the tack will go up about 300 rpms for a few seconds and then drop down to normal and then go up again . I can drive it so far with out the cruise and it doesn't seem to do this . Its on level road ,no hills and I can hear the difference in rpm but the speed remains the same .

Check your battery grounds.
Then if it still does it search for electrical noise from the alternator.
A electrical filter fixes almost all of them doing this.

It is the torque converter unlocking and locking. Check the things fox suggested and search for older threads an articles in the mag.

Its got about 150 k on it now . It hasn't acted up since I posted this . Untill it gets to be a more common thing I guess I will just keep my eye on the tack .Then add the foil to the charging wire to see if that helps .
