CBari, you should use the Pacbrake transmission controller supplied in the exhaust brake kit. The Pacbrake controller has quite a few features built in to enhance the exhaust brake and to protect the transmission. The Pacbrake controller reads the vehicle network (Can-Bus) to ensure all the parameters are correct (cruise control, throttle position, vehicle speed, etc) before applying the exhaust brake. The Pacbrake controller forces torque converter lock-up sooner then the Chrysler program does to provide exhaust brake engagement at slower road speeds. The dash switch provided in the kit has an LED light in the end of the toggle, the light changes color to show the mode the system is in, brake ready is RED, torque converter locked up is GREEN and exhaust brake applied is an ORANGE light.
The Pacbrake controller also measures slippage within the transmission, if the controller detects slippage it will disengage the exhaust brake to protect the transmission.
It is my understanding that the "pressure lock" only increases oil pressure within the transmission, but doesn't control torque converter lock-up or have any of the other features of the Pacbrake controller.
Pacbrake's transmission controllers are designed specifically to enhance exhaust braking and ease of troubleshooting with the 3 color LED lights.
