Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) transmission problems and a possible swap

My transmission is acting up again. Its giving me a problem with shifting into 3rd and 4th gears. Sometimes not wanting to go in at all. I have to let out then push back in and it will shift. It is also very difficult to put it into 1st or 2nd after starting it as well as when I come to a complete stop. It is more difficult more times than not.



I was also wondering what it would take to put one of the Getrag G56s in my truck.



What would have to be done to the transfer case?

If you already have a manual, nothing. There are several post here about just such a swap.
