Thanks guys. This turned into one of those nightmare jobs :{
Saturday I got a set at Pep Boys for a 97 GMC 1 ton, 4X4 dually. Got up Sunday figured the weather looked OK, so I went for it. Got on stands, both wheels off, drums free and off, loosened the lines to the cylinders, broke the nuts loose - everything going well and it started to sprinkle. :{ Figured just my luck. So, instead of waiting things out (and have it down pore) I figured I be smart this time - HA! - and put it all back together then call it a day. Of course once I was done, put all the tools away and cleaned up the sun came out until the evening. Great day to do the job.

Ah well that's the brakes.
So Tuesday after work I get the truck all tore down again and "then" I decided to check the parts out (double DUH!), two boxes same part numbers but two totally different parts

I put truck back together - again. Return the parts and try to get the correct ones - out of stock #@$%! Later on I got them at Autozone, Brakeware P/N 33708, $14. 99 ea. FYI - says on the bag, "Replaces - Wagner #F79768, Raybestos #WC37337 and Bendix #33708". Should have just gone down to NAPA but, most of the time the guys there act like they are the only ones that know anything about auto mechanicals - I don't need attitudes.
Without a hitch tonight (Thursday) they finally went on. I did the gravity bleed on the lines while each cylinder was off to flush old fluid out and then again from the bleeder valve after installing each of the cylinders. Adjusted the shoes and off for a test ride.
I'm not too impressed at this point - the pedal seems low and it really doesn't seem to stop any better, but I'm going to drive it for a day or so then adjust the shoes again and have someone help me to pump bleed the rears. Hope it increases breaking performance. If not I'll remove the RWAL rod and adjust it to suit my needs. That should work
