I'm sure they were corrected numbers. The correction factor in Denver assuming 5000' elevation would should about 25% more than at sea level.

who said that???

Who said that all it had was a vp44? Who said the it didn't have injectors a box, and plenty more goodies.

JConley,

I second what you said about the steel thing.

Looks like there are a lot of people jumping to conclusions before all the information has been released. :(We all know what happens when you assume things.

Cumminntstrkn-- I just heard the same---so this is indeed impressive--will be interesting to see what the other dyno says---I'm sure the truck had lots of mods--it had too..... wow am I jealous----chris

So they'll release these claims of power that basically everyone challenges, but that's not the whole story? Come on. What's the skinny on it then.

Everyone is doubting the HP claims, as am I. If the whole story hasn't come out yet, then fill us in then, so the claims don't look like BS.

I do not know the whole story. I was not there. I did talk to Don and he said they were going to run the dyno again to confirm the numbers.

I don't understand why anyone would question them. . they just claim to have more hp on #2 out of an ETH than anyone else and won't tell how they did it.

Then they have a TC that hold all of it in lockup. . where's the stretch???

did you catch that hint of sarcasm?????

I hope they did do it, but they're gonna have to tell how before I believe it.

Nobody said it just had a VP44... . I just wanna know if it was a VP44 and if it was a stock pump. I'm sure it had injectors... and a box and prolly a few more things. I'm only interested in hearing if anything at all was done to the VP44.

The only real difference between the ETC and ETH are injectors, VP44, and compression ratio. So a P-pump conversion would harldy be an ETH anymore.

That'd be more like a 12v with a better head on it.

I would call it a 24v not an ETH after a p-pump. Its just semantics though.

I spent some time reading over the SAE standards, (SAE J2177, J1995, & J1349) and found the correction factors for gasoline engines is different then for Diesel's. If you apply the corrections of a gasoline engine to a turbo diesel when operating at high altitudes, you will most likely get numbers that are too high because the corrections are adding HP that was not really lost.

In order to properly apply the Diesel corrections, one has to measure inlet & boost pressure & temperature along with fuel flow rate with viscosity & density corrections. All of these measurements are then used in a few equations and tables to derive the proper correction factor. If you follow the equations it also appears the correction factors have less effect the higher your boost is, making since because one would assume the boost counteracts any intake deficits caused by high altitudes.

As you can see, correction factors for diesels are quite a bit different and more complicated then for gasoline engines. I assume all the standard dyno software that comes with chassis dynos are only programmed with the gasoline correction equations. "

No P-pump on the Dodge in question. I know, I rode in it, and looked under the hood. It rips.

Never mind about the HP or dyno or any of that. What's more interesting to me is how that auto can put it all to the ground. It's sweet. I wish I had one. I'll have to settle for driving Stack'd 'n' Jack'd, Eric's truck, every once in a while. Until I can buy a second truck... :D with an auto in it... .

Briar,

I thought I read once where your son wants a CTD right? well give him yours, and come to the dark side of an auto!:D :p ;)

This thread is making all the harder to decide which transmission I want. :(

"Well, we saw the "505hp" truck dyno today on a Mustang dyno. Best run of 294hp, with propane. Not quite what I was expecting, after all the hype. I would have thought that an upgraded turbo and DT466 injectors could do more. With the amount of smoke the he was putting out it looked like he had plenty of fuel, but he must have been putting it all out the tailpipe instead of making power with it. The truck smoked more than any other Powerstroke there, but DBook's truck made more hp . Overall I was not extremely impressed with the truck or the knowledge of the folks from ATS. Maybe it was on "off" day, maybe the dyno wasn't working right, whatever. :

I don't know about you guys, but dynos SUCK in my book!

Okay, full story and it is a long one ! We had a dyno day today and my X turned in a 316/925 on the first run. The guys from the ATS shop showed up in there Ford and eventually put it up on the roller's after 3 or four tries they get it up to 294/9?? on #2 and propane! They said they had changed the chip from the last time they dyno'ed and that is why they lost 200 H. P or more horsepower apparently. So they go in and make a phone call and then let us know they are Bringing down the Dodge. The guy show up looks at the sheet's and see's my # and say's " I am going to wipe that figure off the sheet. " They get the Dodge up on the rollers and have them put on extra tie downs. After numerous tries the best they do is a 319/1100 and he hopes out and tell's the shop guy's "Looks like I beat your X. " So I request to go back up on the rollers and with a short call to Bryan for a couple of idea's we fire it back up in two runs I turn in a 350/1037. Needless to say the guy was a little miffed a starts loudly talking about how the Mustang dyno wont load his truck motor and he needs to get it back up on a dyno jet. Then he state's he will never dyno it again and will only take it to the track. My belief is that truck should have kicked my a$$!!! Then he say's he was going to put twins on it so he could pull 120# of boost. I know the Dodge's are the h. p kings I just thought it was rather funny that both of the trucks that turned such big # last week lost over 200 H. P in a week.

So there is the story sorry it was so long winded
