Thank you for your fast reply. I think I am going to do as you said and check with Edge I did read somewhere there is a new one call the Premium with Attitude. Anyway I may just hold off until she is out of warranty in another year. Trucks been good except for yesterday check gage light came on and the cable from the Alternator to the fire wall has broken off from the Alternator. Headed for the Dodge Dealer tomorrow morning to get it fixed. We are heading off on a two week trip pulling the 5th wheel and hoping we do not have any problems with the truck then. Still can not believe I sucked a valve after only 58k on the truck. Thank God Dodge replace the engine with no questions ask. I think a new Engine is about $14K. Thanks again for the info on the Edge EZ.

After reading some of the replies here, I feel lucky with my 05. Had it since new and other than a P0191 code shortly after getting it, Iv had no trouble with it in 50,000 miles on it.

Dam thing will probably wait until the warrenty runs out for anything major to go wrong.
 
55,000 miles and happy as can be!!!



20k replaced u-bolt (warranty), 40k replaced Jacobs brake control arm (warranty) !



Even at $4. 93/gallon I loved this truck and now at $1. 95 I REALLY love this truck !!!
 
I've got 118,000 on my 06 quad cab, two wheel drive, dually. Only issue was a leaking pinion seal, which the dealer repaired at about 10,000 miles. No other issues, except the overhead readout for mpg is off by about 16-18 %.
 
77000 miles on my 05. Other then fluid changes and runnin PS/MMO every tankfull it has all the original stuff and trouble free. You do hear of problems on here but they are way more trouble free 3rd gens then ones with problems. Best 3/4 ton truck I have every owned.
 
Mostly in this order:



  • 4 injectors between 7K and 70K
  • rear bumper rusting at 15K, dealer won't replace
  • 3 sets of door seals, the last ones work good
  • one rear driveshaft before 36K
  • 1st wiper switch at 15K
  • RH upper ball joint at 35K
  • complained about rear bumper rust again at 35K, service mgr denies it's a plating problem
  • PS pump shaft broke around 40K
  • cruise control vacuum line at 40K and 70K, permanently fixed at 95K by me
  • 2nd set of tires at 51K
  • front u-joints at 65K
  • front wheel bearings at 75K, didn't need them, dealer looking for (warranty) work
  • second wiper switch at 75K (it ain't a switch problem, more likely a BCC)
  • LH rear door wiring at 75K, speaker quit before 36K
  • RH rear door wiring at 95K, repaired wires myself,
  • LF door leaks wind in crosswind - TBD
  • needs tires again at 96K
  • two front air dams - both my bad, $140 each (ouch)
  • need to take it in before 100K to get remainder of Gold warranty coverage - cold PS assist poor, LF door adjust for wind leak, try to get RR leaf spring due to lower ride height, need to measure front ride height for saggy coils, ball joints, 3rd wiper switch for memory challenged intermittent mode



best purchase - extended warranty for 5yr/100K with no deductible
 
shudder at low speed simi-coasting with engine brake on.

surging with cruise on at 58-64 mph

low air volume at outside dash vents.

bed highth to high.

what happened to the reclining rear seats for the mega cab?

they didn't make it to production.....

Hello All...

Bought an 06 2500 about a month ago. Prior owner had installed an after market radio, ( which was crap), and fog light needed to be repaired. After repairs I noticed all check lights on, odometer not working nor was the cruise control. Taking it to the shop they informed me the TIPM went out. I had hoped it was the speed sensor but the shop man said no. So how was I to know otherwise? Anyway, $1100 bucks later I drove it home.

I have the OLD TIPM. Is it worth anything? Can it be repaired?

Oh, forgot. I had a gooseneck hitch and trailer light hook up put in. The guys doing it said they had received a notification from Dodge that the hookup must be done right or it would fry the control module. This was done BEFORE the radio repair about a week later.

So... . can anyone advise if there is a way to wire or rewire stuff on this truck without having to add on $1100 bucks each time for a new TIPM?

2003 QCLB 4WD 3. 73 48RE Antispin. Light towing (about 6K 8 times a year); 90K.



--Left axle seal out at 60K.

--New tires at 80K.

That's about it. 13-19MPG(gets less towing in the mountains, got more at 65mpg light load highway). Stock but have installed trans pan/gauge, as well as EGT/boost gauges.



Love this truck; decided to buy an 05 last year for myself.

Well got back from our two week spring break . Pulled about 3000k miles and truck pulled fine no problem what so ever. Got between 8. 5 and 11. 1 mpg . Our 5th Wheel is a large 3 Slide 37 ft 14k Montana so I feel pretty good about the MPG. Not sure if I will spend the money for the Edge with Attitude right now . Truck is still under warrenty 7yrs 100k Miles.

22,000 dealer replaced power steering pump, it wasn,t bad. Steering box was and was replaced under warranty. Steering wheel would not return to middle when coming out of a turn, but was still driveable.

32,023 Plastic end tank on cac started to leak. Dealer would not warranty truck under 36,000 but 2 months over the 36 month coverage. Asked about door seals at same time, no warranty, replaced them myself. Shift pattern diagram is turned backward has been that way for quite a while. Anybody make a good looking aftermarket replacement? All in all and excellent truck with lots of power. Design flaws have been the cause of my failures except for the steering box. Bought the truch for the engine not the truck that was built around it. If FORD or Chevy would offer a cummins I would probably look pretty hard at one.

Only real complaint (besides worse mileage that my old 2001) is a very dim display on the radio. :mad:

replaced Michelin tires at 65K

son wrecked it in Oct of '07, bent every body panel on it, drive train still good. Body shop did an ok job.

CD player quit about 35K

diesel leak on top of tank, started last week I believe. Gonna drop tank and see what problem is.

Cruse control,,or something, causing erratic operation,,,(( surging)) this is a standard, no toys ,,,4x4,, 2006, automatic,,here's the situation,,,,,we set the cruse at 70... it locks on fine,,,soon the rpm's drop 300rpm,, then they go up about 300 rpm and this causes a surge effect. . Terrible on a 300 mile trip. . took it to a dealer, they replaced the tps. Got it back,,,same trouble,,, took it in again, dealer fried the computer i think it's called the ccm,,,replaced it,, (((still have surging. ))) dealer said that model truck has surging problems and they are common ,, we are done at that place... Now ,, tdr fans, help me out, show me a article that covers this or tell me who to contact to fix this thing thanks radar doctor...
 
Bought a used 06' 4x4 quad cab, short bed, CTD back in April... with 67,000 miles on it. Came with a 30 day warranty - In the 30 days, I got the Dealer to replace the cracked instument plexiglass, all 4 ball joints and alignment, Right front ABS sending unit, and they reflashed the ECM, and after complaining of the shifter sticking in Park... they replaced the trans shift cable. (I had to readjust it because the truck would not start, the shifter has to be exactly in the Park position. They denied a low flow fan problem, so I taped the dreaded problem vent in the outside air position for now. After warranty was out, I was still complaining about the dreaded steering wander problem, of course the reply was "they all do that", so I cut my losses and purchased and installed the 09' steering replacement kit, had the steering box rebuilt by outside vender (this did not solve any issues at all, cost $350), realigned it myself with the string method (must have got it right on because the new Michlien tires don't wear after 12,000 miles, also noted that gave it full positive Caster) and it steers much better, but not cured, purchased and installed smarty jr and 2 codes were set - the one that bothers me is the intake heater no voltage drop... so I deleted the heater and installed a Glacier heater delete and CFM intake. The seat has completely lost its support (some heavy dude most have owned it), so I added new foam for now. Added 4 Rancho shocks because the stock ones were shot, and the brakes were gone, so I replaced all the pads. Installed new trac bar bushings and thicker bolts, AND added Dynatrac free spin front end kit. Reclamped muffler with strap clamps to stop exhaust leak (appears to be original and stock). Think I got the truck right so far as I just got back from a long trip with a heavy truck camper on the back...
 
08 3500 C&C, 40,000 miles, ball joints, front axle shaft outer u-joints(3x), main driveshaft u-joint, clutch, flywheel, clutch slave cylinder, one re-flash. All done under warranty.

The Dealer is full of CRAP!!!
 
Bought my 04 in 2006 with 89k on the clock, really trouble free (except rebuilt the trans twice on the way to 360k). at about 375k had intermittent low oil pressure light. at 390183 engine locked up. it had spun a bearing causing the low oil pressure at startup, and I just ran it til it died. Found a used engine from an 04 built a month later, and had it installed (they said it had 100k on it and i believe it) engine looks brand new, (maybe compared to the old one). runs like a champ. Ready for another 300k, but have to get the trans in the shop again! Probably going to reduce it to lighter duty since I bought the 2008, but it'll be Boss for a Daily Driver. Just have to replace the front seats (worn out). and straight pipe the exhaust like it was when I bought it. Ex Ole Lady said i needed a muffler, I should have gotten rid of her earlier.
