04. 5 with 15K. no mechanical issues. replaced the door seals - TSB and had the smoke milage TSB done. Great truck and still grinnin,

Almost 9000 miles - build date 2/2/05, delivery 3/8/05.

Some squeal from the left front brake, no affect on braking performance at all - will have that checked at the 15K service.

That's it! Oo.

2004 305/555 purchased in October of 2003 with 28,000 miles on the clock as of today.

1. Upper and lower ball joints replaced.

2. Drivers door speaker replaced to fix annoying buzz, still buzzs though.

3. #6 injector replaced to fix injector knock. However, 9,000 miles later the truck is knocking hard again.

4. Entire steering column replaced to fix random clicking/ticking noise.

5. Rear sliding window replaced to fix water leak that would soak the carpet.

6. Had to replace a couple of cab lights that were cracked.

I think you will find that ball joints, u-joints, injectors, and door seals are the most likely problems encountered by 3rd gen owners.

I had an '03 with vibes in the 70-80 mph. . reported it at 2000 mi. It took me 11/2 years and another 34,000 mi to get another truk.

05 5600, 25k hauled heavy all it life.

-Had master/slave clutch assy. changed at 250 miles because master cylinder was bleeding off in the cab.

-needs drivers door seal replaced due to rub problem.

-factory tires are about to show cords.

Other than that no probs. at all, damn fine truck.

My '05 is so new nothing to report.

My '03:

1) Blown hydraulic pump line at about 6,000 miles

2) Transfer case linkage problem - would pop out of gear when using exhaust brake . Dealer repaired

3) Leaking Hydraulic pump. Dealer replaced.

Otherwise, a perfect truck. No vibration issues and good mileage. Clutch works fine. No door seal problems.

03 with 31,000

On my 03 I had this stuff:

  • Door seals (twice)
  • Alternator Bracket TSB
  • P/S Hose TSB
  • Transmission Connector TSB
  • Transmission cooler hose TSB
  • Ball Joints
  • Drivers Window Master switch
  • Dash cluster re flash- turned into replacement

My 05 is still petty new at 1700 miles so can't say allot on that one except it will get new door seals cuz they are the older style that tear.

At work I repair all makes and I still prefer the Dodge and have owned all 3.

Only problem my truck has had was the hydraulic line for the power steering/brakes rubbed through on frame, warranty fix. Just turned 41K miles this weekend and everything is great! I haven't looked at my door seals, where do they go bad?

04.5 2500 4x4 5.9L 6 speed 46000 miles

Had a vibration at 10 miles per hour, the dealer replaced the entire rear drive shaft and u-joints.

Other than that drives like a charm. 18-20 miles per gallon if I keep my foot out of it.

at 31,000k on second set of tires.

TSB reflash for white smoke.

both front and rear grab handles broke off.

the front a-pilars are getting replaced this week for a second time.

both front lower ball-joints replaced at 20,000k miles.

rear door seals replaced

rear u-joint going to the rear diff went bad

linkage for the transmission selector kept keeping the transmission in reverse when it shows in park. was fixed.

horn gremlin 2 times ( but learned dont soak it with water. )

tires smoke and throw rubber on 5/5

truck will cover 2 cars worth with smoke on 5/5

but those two are good problems

we all have are issues with the 3rd gen, but these engines ROCK.

2004 4wd 48re. Pulls to the right a little. Not enough to make me take it to the dealer yet. At very low speeds the transmission hunts very annoyingly between first and second. But as I don't get stuck on the freeway that much and its fixed by just keeping it in first I'll ignore that a bit longer too. The ashtray will no longer stay closed. Thats it.

Mine is ripped down towards the bottom of the a-pillar. The door comes a point (corner) here above the hinges and rubs agains the seal.

2005, 7,700 miles:

1. Door seals

2. Outside temperature sending unit.

3. Speed Control , speed sensor, would not stay set, hit a bump and it would go off.

Minor stuff..... really like the truck, like the G56 also..... shifts good ;) .

2003 305/555, 136,000 miles.

U-joint at 111,000

wheel bearing (?) at 122,000

Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned bar none. Never used the warrantee. Computer shows 20. 4 mpg over last 54 tanks. Only mods are a swiss cheesed air box and an off-set Donaldson/Aeroturbine combo exhaust. Great truck. Jeff
