Truck buying protection - long distance version?

I've spotted a few 3rd gen trucks I'm interested online in but would like feedback regarding how some of you might have checked your vehicles out before buying to avoid getting a problem vehicle. I know Carfax and Autocheck won't catch all, just trying to learn more about services that might do a good job being I cannot be there to do a complete vehicle check.

if you cannot be there then send someone you trust to take a look at it... remember you are buying used so dont get upset if there are some issues and its the gamble you take... good luck

Thanks for the input - found my truck and chose to be there myself.
