If you crunch the #s More CR were sold form 2003-2006 ,Thats 4 Years then all the 12s & 24s together form 1989 to 2002. I know many owners with 300K+ miles with just minor repairs still on factory injectors( Most have have heated the Advices and added Auxiliary Filter(s), you can't blame Bosch for the worthless fuel in north America. . look at all the china POS filters on the retail Pumps through North America... If the blame needs to be Placed. . I put on ALL the Retail sellers & the GOV of both Canada & US for NOT requiring Proper filters on ALL retails Pump. . Heck they MAKE ULSD to satisfy ALL the tree hungers ,But destroy all CR engines for Lack of Filters its BS. . I have stomp this horse to death. . YOU cannot have proper filtration with certified Internal combustion filters. . Either Auxiliary filtering or Quality retail filters. WHY even allow ANY harmful products into factory Tank#@$%!
 
TcDiesel: that's very true there about all the crap out there by Gov't, tree huggers and cheap china pos stuff.

Yes the CR's would go a long time with very good maintenance done to help that.

For me, the risk is still pretty high with all the current crap out there about getting a CR. Like a failed injector destroying a pistons. For some reason Alberta is very bad for that. Bad fuel, very fine dust particles etc. They destroy CR engines there. If you've heard of this, maybe you know why. My buddy wants to know why as he's been rebuilding 8 CR engines a year that were ruined in Alberta.

Yep... 1st & 2nd Gens if the injection system failed in most case it just smoked like heck ,rarely did it take out the motor. . Now that 2012 is here Maybe the end of this year or next the new High tech motors will be released. These NEW engines will leap forward with NEW technongly. . Smaller more powerful and cleaner then the blue tech motors NOW available. They will cost More $ and still need the DF spray but the PF and external EGR will be gone with all the grab. 5. 0l making 350hp and 700lbs of TQ 15-30k PSI will be running pressures. The CP3. 4 already produces this pressure, but its a throw away pump, both the LML and Scorpion Motors have it,I hope that pump does not make the standard for Cummins.
