Truck gotten LOUDER!! Fix

While piddling with my truck, I found a foam insert on the inside of the front fender that insulates noise from the cab. If you open the hood and look down into the opening(from above) at the top back of the fender, there is a large vertical oval hole(12"X 2")that opens into the door frame. One side on my truck had a thick piece of foam plugged into the hole, while the driver's side piece was stuffed down in the fender compartment( It had either come loose or was never installed correctly). This foam keeps a lot of engine noise from entering the cab. It was a tight fit for my arm to re-install it. I had to get my wife to reach the very bottom.

Hey Salvo, thanks for the tip. I checked my fender wells and both of those foam inserts were laying in the bottom. It made a big difference. Thanx also for the tip on using the wife to get to the bottom. Good call. .

I found the same thing on mine. The drivers side was at the bottom and the passenger side was installed correctly. I would of never noticed this, and it is quieter.

I found both of mine stuffed down in the hole. Had to use a long pry bar to reinstall them. (Wife was at work and unavailable)
