A bitersweet moment for me. Made the deal an hour ago.

I'll drive it until wednesday when I can get the registration transferred to the new one.

Then I'll say bye bye.

Been a great truck overall for the 7 1/2 years I've owned her. I'll miss her dearly but it's time to move on.

And time for someone else to to enjoy her.

Jay

'05 1500 gasser V6 (3. 7l), 2wd automatic. airbags, 4 wheel discs comfy, quiet, low miles and low cost.

I looked but couldn't find anything in a CTD with either low miles or that I could afford.

I do not want to carry payments into retirement or have a high value vehicle that I need to take a hit on at that time... which is 2 or 3 years down the road. This should fit my needs quite nicely in that regard since a truck is my daily driver and I don't haul any weight to speak of.

If I have that need my son has 2 CTDs to choose from;)

:-laf:-laf I had forgotten about that :-laf:-laf

(Geez that beard REALLY looks fake... . no wonder my grand daughter never really bought it)

why not just keep the ctd? it probally dosnt owe you anything!

my buddy has a 05 gasser. nice ride, no guts and ok milage. oh yea, and quiet!

grower,

Wish I could, but I simply don't have the space any longer.

As an FYI, I sold the truck to someone who I think will enjoy her and perhaps nurture her back to a full recovery once he gets "the fever".

Cheers.

OMG! Jay, a stapple to the 1st gen community! Sold his baby! Man the life boats! Get the life jackets! The world is going down!;)

Still can't believe it when I saw the post! Maybe the world is coming to an end when I see things like this happening!

I almost sold my 92 but the deal fell through and I am glad it did. I would have hated to see the old girl drive away... .

Jay,

although you sold the old girl, I hope you'll stay on around here with your words of wit etc...

Good Luck with the new wheels.

John

Dittos to the last post. Once again, thanks for the help when I needed to rebuild that G360. Help like that is what makes this site what it is. Without TDR, help like Jay's, and the encouragement from the mob, I probably would have given up on mine long ago.

Thanks,

I'll hang around a while for sure... I still love the smell of diesel in the morning. And in the afternoon. And in the evening. :-laf:-laf

... ... ... ..... yeah... ... ... .

Smells like,,,,,,,,,,,, Victory.

Jay, I have a number of ideas to allow for that gas jobbie to knock and smoke. PM me. :-laf

Stick around, Jay, we often need your insight. I well remember your W250 from the KDP pinning day in Torrington.

Bummer. As you can see by my sig, I've got a bunch of CTD's to drive. Off all of them I prefer my '93 as a daily driver. She's bone stock and dependable. Hardly any computers in her to mess things up. That's why I like her, when I go out in the morning and turn the key I know she'll start.

I'm planning on a 1800 mile trip pulling a 30' fifth wheel this spring and I'm leaning towards taking the '93. She runs great, get's better mileage than any of the others, and been paid for a long time so the miles don't mean a thing.

jimnance,

I you haven't towed with the 93 before, go look in the towing forum for ideas on how to mod our old trucks to tow better before you head out.

Engine no problem, transmission & torque converter can be a big problem, since the torque converter slips (heat) under big loads and the transmission doesn't have enough cooling capacity to cool under big loads. Heat kills auto transmissions.

I have the aux oil cooler and transmission temp guage. The gentleman that had the truck before me was a snowbirder. He pulled a 34' travel trailer each year over 2,000 miles. I realize that the transmission is a weak spot and keeping transmission temps down is crucial to keeping the transmission in good shape. I do wish the '93 had a lock up torque converter. OTOH, any transmission mechanic can rebuild the 318. They are bone simple.
