I am sure the lp is dead. But I wanted to see if maybe the vp44 went also. I cycled the key--- on/off---on/off---on. Odometer just read miles. No codes at all. Shouldn't it have said system ok, no probs, or kma, or something? This is the 99 btw.

Any suggestions? Did I do the key thingy right?

barbwire-

To my knowledge, the key trick doesn't work on 99's. On mine, I've always had to go borrow the scanner from the local Autozone.

The key trick works on my '96, just have to count flashes of the Check Engine Light. On the digital odometers, the codes should show up. When you went"ON" did you leave it there long enough to get at least one "ding"? If you go too fast, it will not work.

Bummer. Oh well, I guess thats life in the fast lane, huh! I live 70 miles from the nearest scanning tool. Well, I have just gotten the Vulcan big line kit in the mail. I will install it and relocate the lp, and see if it will start then. Thanks fo rthe reply.

When you asked if I went " ON "long enough, did you mean the first two times?

Yes. Every time you turn the key "ON" leave it there just long enough to get one "ding". With the '99 I think you are going to be counting flashes of the "MIL" (Malfunction Indicator Light). Most people call it the Check Engine Light.

On my 99 thr fuel lines rusted at the tank and for a while it didn't leak fuel but allowed it to drain back. Make sure you have pressure at your filter and/or bleed 2 or 3 injectors.
