Trying to lower my truck.

I need to lower my truck a bit, 3rd gen, quad, 4x4. I see two plates about 1/2" to 1" at the base of the spring pack on the rear axel. It looks like a guy should be able to just jerk one or both out and lower the rear a bit. The only think I cant tell is if the spring pack has a long bolt/dowl to center those plates that might have to be dealt with or if it could be as simple as loosening the ubolts and slipping those plates out. Anyone had this area apart?

i too have lowered the rear on mine like that... there is a pair of bolts that go through the pack. mine were total pita to remove, and i replaced mine with regular hex head [not that ******* round head oem ones] there is room for a regular bolt head in the axle spring perch. .
