Yup, MacGreenie posting again (and spending money),
I have a Practical Solutions High Idler and I love it. Literally it was a plug-and-play install.
I have been looking at threads for alarm systems and remote stars and timers etc. that allow extensive idle times to keep the truck cool or warm while you are away from it for whatever reason. Perhaps you want to keep the dog in the AC while you grab something at the market. Perhaps you are worried about your groceries melting in the sun or the wife becoming chilled.
In any case, I am installing a Geno's Turbo Life Saver (240 minute delay model).
I believe I could use this as an extended idle device as well as a cool down device. I know extensive idling is bad so I assume I could kick up the idle to a good 1200 or 1300 rpm with my High Idler Box and then walk away after setting my Turbo Life Saver box to what ever time I need... . with up to 240 minutes as a delay option I could certainly keep Rover, the Wife and groceries comfy for quite a while.
I am assuming the box will shut the truck down after the cycle is complete and won't really care that I have used the High Idle Box to fool the TPS in setting a higher idle. Of course, assumptions are dangerous, but.....
Have I missed anything here?
I am installing the TLS box anyway... was just wondering if the combination of the two boxes would act the way I think they might.
The TLS box supposedly saves your turbo by allowing sufficient cooldown yet it induces an excessive idle time that is harmful to the engine? Certainly 240 minutes at idle rpm is bad... . does the TLS kick the idle up and act like a high idle device to prevent this?
I wanted the TLS from Geno's because of the ease of installation. Decided not to go with the Isspro unit attached to my thermocouples for that reason.
Any input appreciated!
