... but only temporarily. :D

I had to get the truck "smogged" today, and I hate dealing with the test station monkeys more than wrenching, so I figured I wouldn't chance failing with the tweaked pump. ;) I was allowed 30 PPM and passed with 11. 2, which is much higher than the truck has ever read. I have all the tests slips since the truck was new and it has always been under 2 PPM, and normally under 1 PPM. Maybe I didn't blow it out enough on the way to the test station... . :D

I can't believe how much of a dog the truck was after setting it back as close to stock as I could remember. As soon as I got home I turned everything back up... aah, much better. :D

Oh, and whoever designed the VE pump needs to be severly beaten for their placement of the idle adjustment.

Well I am glad you turned it back up. You had me going ther for a second. I dont think I could pass smog if I tried. Even at an idle it hazes pretty bad. Glad to hear you passed untill next year.

That's what you get for living so close to the communists, errr, I mean environmentalists in California. You should come to Kansas, aside from the occasional tornado, we have it made. No inspections of any sort for vehicles. :)

Yep, gotta get smogged every year - at least those of us in the Tucson and Phoenix-metro areas. The rest of the state is exempt. We used to be able to use a PO box in an exempt county but that doesn't work anymore. :(

Regardless of the smog check, I really don't want the truck smoking much - that was one of the reasons it took me so long to buy a diesel - and is why I'm trying to keep the tweaks to a reasonable level... if there is such a thing. :D

Hopefully when Kalifornia finally falls into the ocean all the enviro-nazis will go down with it - they're not wanted in Arizona... we have too many already. ;)

I have to get tested in Connecticut as well. (when the program is running that is)

When I got tested last fall, I simply turned the fuel pin to "min" and passed with flying colors.

But yes, what dog it was for those few miles to the inspection station and back.

I live in the Sacramento area and there is no scheduled testing for private light diesels. If you happen to be dirving by where they are testing commercial trucks on the roadside you might get waved in if you look smokey. They can also dip your tank to see if you're running red fuel. I talked to one of the guys who works for the state and does this testing and he said you most likely wont get pulled unless your truck looks like an "ag" type vehicle (flatbed, hay bales, horse trailer, etc). Just thought you guys might like to know.
