Competition B1-B2 twins

Browsing Ebay- Saw 155 hp sticks for $330- decided to check it out Seller claims to have twins and a whipple suprechager:

Q: As I understand your description, you gained 3. 5 mpg going from stage 4 to 5 injectors? I would love to know what performance mods you are running that can do that. I have a stock 99 dodge cummins dually and can only manage 15 mpg at a near steady 75 mph after a factory ecm upgrade to help with the mileage/power and lower 3. 55 highway gears. If I purchased your injectors, no doubt there would be smoke with significant application of throttle and without increasing the boost. But do you have any idea what kind of mileage I could expect with moderate throttle? Do you have other mod stages (2,3,4) that you sell? Finally, do these stage 5 injectors actually produce an extra 155 horsepower without any mods or is this in conjuction with specific mods. Thanks for your time. Answered on Jan-06-05

A: it is twin turbo hx55/hx45 with a whipple supercharger in between the turbos(for instant throttle response) which has its own watercooled aftercooler system, twin mallory 140 fuel pumps, two duel staged nitrous systems/propane injection, with 100%nitro methane added though nos foggers,120 copper head gasket with twin oringed block and single oringed head valved and ported to the max,has modified 4 ring arias pistons ceramic and teflon coated by swaintech, steel crank from haisley's with girdle kit,trans/converter by suncoast, all bearings and inserts are coated with antifriction materal, rods and crank coated with oil resistant coating. exhaust manifold has 12 stainless ceramic coated pipes intergrated into the primary turbo, currently running dd's cam,it idles with 5. 5 lbs boost and builds 95 lbs at full boost 12. 1/121 mph quarter. just a guess around 3-5 mpg increase on a stock 3500 and i do have all stages. yes they will add 155 true dyno hp to a bone stock engine. thanks

Anybody heard of this?????????????

anyone can claim anything. id ask for proof (dyno sheets, websites, any supporting docs) before you give up a couple hundred dollars. call me silly--but ive never heard of a s/c between twins before. something just doesnt sound right. be careful... ...

yup, I've often thought about feeding a blower w/ a turbo on a Cummins, but packaging would be a pain, and I'm looking for more horsepower, not more torque...

he seems to have a VERY exotic combo for only running low 12's

Didnt see that the 1st time I read- Must be BS

I'm not really interested in buying the sticks, I just wanted to dee what everyone thinks about 2 turbos and a blower. I know that detriot had thenm both on their 2stroke v diesels, and that there are also other applications- but Ive never heard of such in a CTD

I beleive the detroit 2 stoke needs the blower to run properly since they only have 2 strokes. I would rather run a nother turbo than a blower a blower takes HP to turn it turbos don,t :D

You are correct. The detroit needs the charger to even run. If its the model that I am thinking of.

What makes me wonder though is where is this guy putting the supercharger between the two turbos.

Its kind of a tight fit that would not allow a blower to sit anywhere.

Justin-

I wondered if anyone else found this auction. I came across it last night while checking out ebay. Just a FYI, he's not selling the whole injector. He is only selling nozzles according to his description. He mentions taking the injector apart to install them.

I would not expect a big fuel mileage increase with those nozzles. If you read through it, they are our Jammer 5 nozzles. Sold through our distributors, anyone can buy them. Obviously this guy is mass marketing to the Ebay crowd.

In my truck, with a Jammer turbo and the Ultimate box turned off, I gained 174hp over the stock injectors. This was in an ETH. We claim 150+hp gain with those. I did notice a decrease in fuel mileage from the 3's (which are back in my truck now) to the 5's. Of course, I was "testing" them pretty hard as well. :D

Why not, they've been doing it on Detroits!

Incorrect...

They used to run a single charger feeding a 6-71 on top of the motor. The screw charger fed the motor the air and the turbo fed the screw charger. There are no turbo/supercharger combinations made any more. Caterpiller is using a set of twins now on their newest egr motors to meet EPA emissions. They can not meet emmissions without the twins. That is the only deviation from a single charger motor in a class 8 truck from the factory made now... ... . Andy

the "s-chargers" on Detroits are for scavenging the ex gasses out of the chamber only. They won't run otherwise--that's the way they have been built for sixty, seventy (?) years. In modern times they use a turbo for power, emissions.
