First, fellas with the HRVP44. Does your truck have a choppy idle like it has a bigger cam in it? Mine does and sounds pretty cool but just want to make sure this is normal.

EZ now. I had to send my EZ box back to Edge because everytime I plugged it in the truck would have a random missfire. So now I am running the truck without the EZ box and was wondering what kind of defueling I am going to have. I still have the boost fooler in the turbo and now throwing the P0234 code, (overboost detected) which I suspected. When I get the edge box back will the truck wake up even more?

Throwing the 234 code does the stock ECM pull fuel? Cant wait to get my box back.

Thanks,

Sean

I have had the HRVP44 on for about three weeks and no choppy idle for me. I have heard others who do, I dont know if this is because of the dd2's and the FASS or not but when you run the edge EZ it will definately wake it up I have the comp on mine without the pump wire tapped and it runs great.

elandon, I have a similar fuel system, the only thing that is different is the injectors.

Also the truck wont start its "choppy" idle untill it is warmed up a bit.

Now I have noticed the choppy idle until warm and alot of white smoke. And no matter how much you let it idle it will never warm up(LOL). But when the truck is warm I have no idle problems. Mine seems to start faster now than it ever did before. If the truck wont start that doesnt sound good. I would try II again they seem to know their stuff. Check your pressures at the pump is it too high?

Put your stock boost elbow back on until you get the EZ back and you shouldn't throw any codes.

I have no starting issues at all and what you explained about your truck is a carbon copy what mine is doing as well. Good to hear.

I will have to do some hunting to find that fitting. It has been in a bolt drawer for 6+ months. But throwing the 234 code will cause defueling? Good or bad? I will be taking it easy untill I get my box back just in case.

Thanks,

Sean

I have the choppy idle as well. At times when i am coasting down hill and just barely touch the go pedal it really sounds like its got a big cam!

When you hit the overboost condition the ECM will cut back on the fuel to bring down the boost and you'll feel like your truck hit a wall that it can't accelerate past. No harm done, just no upper end power.

I also noticed with the HRVP that I dont get the defuel in first like I did when I put the comp on a year ago. Did anyone elso notice this if it isnt going to defuel in first anymore I am going to sell the BD RAD.

You guys have answered my questions. Cant wait to get my box back now!

TURBOs4LIFE, Mine does the exact same thing. All is good!

Thanks a bunch,

Sean

I have noticed that also but its still there its just not as noticeable as before so you will need the BD RAD to keep from defueling.

Thanks TURBOS4LIFE you just saved me $100. 00 I almost sold it. And no I wont split it with ya... . HA HA

Thats cool! I just need to find good deal on a BD RAD and my truck will be complete! (For a little while :-laf )

It's also known as the BD RAD (racer anti de-fueler). BD says, "that when 1/4 mile racing the cummins computer limits the amount of torque put out by the engine. This torque management results in a reduction of power that can be felt as a quick momentary decrease of power throughout first and second gear.
