Parts In and Installed

Received my parts the last week in June and installed everything over the week-end. Went ahead and installed a new drive belt that I had on hand, the Green Gates Belt.

Thanks to all who had given detailed info on the install, it helped. Hardest part was the fan removal and install , sure hard to grab onto those small 8mm Pulley Bolts.

I did coat my dampner, my old one had a clear coating applied to it on the front. I degreased the new one and shot it with a clear DupliColor Clear Wheel Coat I had on hand. Front and back, a couple of light coats. Removed the clear where it bolts up to the crank.

Only driven about 15 miles but I am happy, all the clutch noise went away. I only have some driveline noise in 5th gear. Took all the 3rd and 4th gear noise out. Engine is noticeable smoother.

Found a loose bolt on the electrical clutch harness, support bracket. That could have been a costly repair, put some loctite on the re-assembly. I just used my 4 old 15 mm bolts that went into the crankshft and a little loctite. :)

When you say all your clutch noise is gone,is your transmission quiet in neutral, clutch out when warm? My clutch never made any noise, but I do get gear rollover in parking lots and a mild gravelly noise in neutral, pedal out. My Fluidamper did nothing to relieve this. I'm running Pennsoil Synchromesh. I got a hole in my wallet and a noticibly smoother idle out of the deal.

My transmission is fairly quiet in neutral when hot, if I push in the clutch there is some noise that goes away. It's much quiter than the stock dual mass clutch/flywheel. No gravelly noise at all. I have Amsoil ATF in my transmission, I am switching over to the Pennsoil Synchromesh too.

My stocker made zero noise, but it only had 37K when it came out and was like new according to the installer. My new one makes zero noise as well, but a degree of gear noise in parking lots is prevalent. I don't get anything bogging it in 5th as some have reported.

I bet you have the stock dual mass flywheel and clutch assy. , you wont hear any driveline noise with that unit... . unit it fails. ;)

Installed mine, not a big deal. I wanted to wait till I made a trip pulling my 14000# fiver. Made the trip over the Cascades from Yakima to Westport. I am amazed how much difference the damper made to the harmonics of the drive train. The truck is MUCH quieter torque pulling between 1400 and 1800 rpm. I have an auto trans, but the converter is locked up at 30+ mph, so it acts like a manual as far as harmonic transfer.

As you may know I did my upgrade a couple months back and I finally got to pull the 5fer and all I can say is... WOW it is a lot quieter. The engine noise does not even start till around 2100-2200 rpms which is faster than I normally tow but I wanted to see if I could get some noise and see. Also, James Northum did my transmission billet upgrades and now that is solid. I would recommend this HB upgrade to anyone whom wants to have better engine harmonics and enjoy the quietness.

I finally got around to weighing the units this morning.

The OEM from my 2005 weighs 15. 0 lbs.

The 6. 7 damper weighs 27. 4 lbs.

I also have found out that the 6. 7 damper, 07. 5-11, is the same damper that is used on the QSB480. The QSB480 is a 472 hp marine 5. 9 rated to 3400 rpms. It produces 942 ft/lbs at 2200 rpms.

For 1/2 the price I don't think you can go wrong with this damper.
