I have messed with these headlights for sometime now. If you want to run 80/100w you WILL need a special harness with heavy wires and relays.

Competition Limited has any type or wattage bulb you want. Super white are just that. If you want the blue "ricer" lights, just ask for them. Competition Limited 734-464-1458. This company's primary business is off road rally lighting. They do not have harnesses for the sport headlight package.

I changed to sportlights and only use the inside lights; haven't even wired the outside lights! Even with the inside lights alone, they light the road a LOT better than the original 94 lights!:D

Marketing hype IMO. I bought a set of the PIAA Super White bulbs and returned them because I couldn't tell any difference. Not worth the $80 IMO.

Do you know of any one who does have the specific harnesses for the sport headlights or do you use one or two of the harnesses available from Coolbulbs?

I too, have tried just about every "high wattage" bulb out there... The Piaa's are in there now... None are any better than stock. . this can be checked by a Lumens meter... I just recd my Sport lights, and am looking for a harness conversion that will also allow me to keep the lows on with the highs. . Thats how I have my truck wired now, and it seems to be brighter than stock... but still wimpy for the foothills where I live. .

two things... ... . if you run a higher wattage bulb in your stock wiring set up, run 'em a short time, then check your wiring and sockets. the higher draw WILL/MAY cause things to start to melt as posted above.

i wrote up the instructions to rewire the lights on the trucks. i have the ones for slt rewire and slt to sport conversion available for the pre 2000 trucks and for the 2001 to present written up. this uses relays and heavier wire, rather than a manufactured harness. if you want 'em, pm me with your e-mail address so i can e-mail 'em to you.

JSimpson - you have a point. Some recent medical/scientific research is showing that the 'blue' and HID lighting systems are largely a farce - the human eye was never upgraded to accomodate them. They were intended to 'turn night into day' - in the illumination cone. Anything outside that (pedestrian, doggy, deer) is at risk of not being seen because your eyes are desperately trying to day-adapt to the lamps, even though all around them its night.

Poor as they were the older 'warm' lamps allowed your eyes to night adapt better and that shadow at the shoulder was detected just in time. The HID (or the blue, me-too bulbs) need aggressive 'warm' companion lighting to fill the area beyond the bright cone. So those 'blue' lights may be blinding more than the oncoming driver!! Those new bioniceyeballs better be coming out soon!!;)
