Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Used 02 6 spd

I have been looking high and low here in California for a used 2002 6 spd. HO short wheelbase ext. cab. There seems to be plenty of long wheel base trucks but not the short beds. Was that a relativey rare configuration for 2002, or should I keep looking?

It was my understanding that you got a sort wheelbase only with a Quad-cab. They did not come short any other way. If you were looking for one in a gas configuration you would be in luck but not as a 3/4 or 1 ton. I think now-a-days you only get long beds in the 3/4 and 1 ton. Of course now that I have stuck my neck out someone will prove me wrong. Just trying to help.

I think that Gifford was refering to a Quad cab when he mentioned the ext cab. They are built; I owned one (5 speed) for 6 months before trading it for the one I have now. You didn't mention if you wanted 4wd or 2wd. I've seen a couple of new 2wd trucks here in Tucson at the dealer, but that was about 6 weeks ago. There probably aren't very many used 2002 trucks out there yet. An '01 should be vertually identical.
