Bought one used for my 2001 5. 9HO from a member who did not want the bomb.

It did not come with any instructions.

Can anyone give me some tips on installing the unit. Especially need to know if I have to disconect 12VDC or reset any computers.

Thanks

You don't need to unhook the batteries or anything, just unhook the connector from the back of the injection pump. Look at the connector on the VA, you will see how the slide comes out and unhooks the cable, then you install the VA and slide the lock in to lock it in. Then connect the truck harness to the other VA cable and slide the lock. Make SURE the slides cam the cable into the connector and it locks firmly in place, you will get a DTC if you don't. Make sure the slide clicks into place, you will feel it lock, and you are home free.

do you have a boost module :confused:

If not you will set a check engine light :(

I disagree Bob, with even DD1's he can run the VA with no boost module. A boost module is not necessary.

I have a VA without the boost module hooked up and I've got no problems. I think as long as your wastegate is stock it would dump the extra boost anyway, wouldn't it?

lets not argue about it:-{}

OK Bob, I had no intentions of it, I was just pointing out that I disagree. I am sorry if you took it otherwise.

MPagnucco, yes to an extent. The boost pressures can still spike momentarily well above the wastegate settings. Without an SPA or other recording type of gauge you will not even see it though.

You can maintain up to 25 PSI steady and spike to 31 PSI without setting a code on my truck anyway.
