Is there any place other than the dash tag that would have the truck's VIN number? I recently sold my '98 club cab to a guy and since the VIN tag is missing he's having trouble licensing it. I noticed it was missing a few months ago and hoped it wouldn't be an issue but unfortunately it is.
I thought the VIN tag was pretty well secured to the dash there at the base of the windshield on the driver side. The only thing I can think of is four years ago when I put a dash-mount gauge set in I loosened the dash and pulled it away from the windshield a few inches so I could more easily route the wiring. Maybe it came loose and fell in there at that time. Would be a PITA to try and fish it out especially 4 years later, and would hate to see the new owner go through that for something I might have caused. Would help if the truck wasn't hundreds of miles away now.
Thanks, Vaughn
