I got a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 24v and about a month or so ago the wait to start would come on but the lift pump wouldn’t. The truck sat for a couple weeks and the battery died. Jumped it off when I got the new lift pump in and the old one started working when I jumped it off. It has a Raptor lift pump that was already on it when I bought it but I had bought a stock replacement. However now the lift pump still works with the wait to start but I have to cycle the key and let the pump run for my truck to start and it’s slowly getting worse, switched the ASD relay with my ac clutch relay and still the same problem, any ideas on what and how to fix this?

If your lift pump control system has not been altered, it should work likes this:

* Ignition switched to run - lift pump operates for approximately 1/4 second
* Ignition switch bumped to crank (without starting the engine) and quickly released and left in "run" position - lift pump will run for approximately 25 seconds.

Is your lift pump working like this? If so, are you having to bump start the lift pump (for the 25 second run time) in order for the engine to start? If this is the case, then you probably have air leaking into the fuel lines between the fuel tank and the suction side of the lift pump. Air will be drawn in while the truck sets for a period of time.
