I don't think he was cranky at all except maybe to the younger generation. In my humble opinion he just told it like it is and Harvy would not sweeten the response to anyone.
Remember he was old school NAVY, need I say more.

He was about 10 years older than I am so that more than likely is NOT him, (egg on my face) but links through artificial (non)intelligence programs seem to cross to a couple non-related individuals (Harvey T vs. Harvey M and cross-relating family members in obituary sites).

This site lists him joining the US Navy in 1960. It also has information that places my first link into a questionable status. We LOVE the internet...

I know he was from Port Author and the age is right. He went to high school with Janis Joplin, but didn't know she was a singer. I stayed at his farm near Lubbock a few times, he had an RV hookup next to a shop. If I'm reading the findagrave registration correctly he hasn't died.
