Need help selecting new ISP

Jeep 4.0l?

Warning, some graphic descriptions.

Last night, after picking up my girl from her musical practice, we needed to get some vitamins and fruit for her voice.

It was a typical night, she got out 30-40 minutes earlier than usual, so we were just taking our timing getting to WalMart.

As we sat in a left turn line, 3rd car back from the light, waiting for a green light to turn onto a 4 lane road.

I was watching cross traffic, while my girl was on the phone with her Mom.

It was 9:00pm, Thursday night. That's when I saw it, nothing to unusual, a car or two taking left turns (From southbound lanes) onto the road we were on. I noticed a truck, a kind that is only built in Mexico. A 1990 Ford 2wd F-150. They look just like a Suburban, but have only two doors, and no windows on the back. He made a "hurried" turn, almost like he had not really planned to turn, or did not know exactly where he wanted to go. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a north bound motorcycle. I new it would be close. The truck was going quickly for his turn,, maybe 20-30MPH, while the Motorcycle (Maybe a ~700cc Honda Cruiser type of bike), was traveling about 45MPH (Speed limit).

I could feel it was going to be a close call, but I changed my mind of the out come when the bike hit his brakes only 10' before where they would intersect. The motorcylcle, and rider collided with the truck directly at it's passenger side front wheel, completely knocking the entire front wheel and suspension underneath the truck. His head, and body hit the windshield, and A-Pillar of the truck.

I immediatly jumped out of my vehicle and ran to the vehicle closest to me, which was the pickup. He was completely unharmed, but in a daze, and before I could really slow from my sprint, I ran to the rider of the bike. As I approached him, thin blood started to pour from his helmet. I immediatly thought he was dead, but attempted to find a pulse. When I saw his wrist was not where it belonged, so I went for his other hand, and that wrist was only hanging from it's skin, with it's bone protruding out. It was then he started to breath. I tried calling 911, and by then there was 6-7 people standing around, and when there was no 911 answer, I looked up at people, and saw about 4 of them were trying to call 911. That was when one of the other guys standing around, saw his bike pouring fuel out onto the street, and the puddle was growing onto the rider. Two or three of the guys pulled the bike away from him. I could hear him struggling to breath when I noticed he was starting to drown in his own blood. About the time I grabbed his helmet (somewhat of a "bucket" type helmet, not a full face helmet), to hold his head up just ~1" or so to keep him from drowning, an officer pulled up, and radioed in to re-route traffic, and for what services we would need. I let his head down slightly to the side of where he was, and that's when he "came to" just enough to roll himself on his back. He was in bad shape, but not too disfigured. I could still make out his face. . He looked young, maybe 25 years old. Unconscious, but breathing, and the bleeding had slowed.

That was when somebody saw the riders cell phone on the floor and called his family members informing them of what had happened.

The Ambulance arived no more than a minute after the first officer arrived. They picked him up onto a stretcher and away he went in the Ambulance. I talked to one officer, and they wanted a witness for the accident, so I stayed and filled out a reprt for them.

I don't know how the rider made out, as he was still alive when the ambulance took him, and the driver of the other vehicle was in the back of a police car when we left.

If yall could say a prayer for that man. It appeared he would loose both hands, and maybe his foot when he recovers.

Just had to get this off my chest,

Boy I hate to see things like that. I was with my best friend when he went down & the worst call was to his wife. He surrvived getting shot in Nam, shrapnell from a guy next to him stepping on a land mine, getting bucked off a horse & nocked out, then a motorcycle crash. We all said he had nine lives but congestive heart failure took him.

Sounds like this kids life will be changed forever. :(

That's tough Merrick ... you just might have saved a life. You did a great thing.

Saw one after the fact, man & woman ... ragdoll look & no movement. :(

One of the police dept's here lost a bike officer to a similar incident. After the fact, measurements were taken of the scene & it was determined that if the officer was riding a BMW, he would have lived. Antilock brakes I understand. Anyway, that's all you see now, even with the Highway Patrol officers. I'm steering to a BMW now for the next bike.

Hey MCummings , just wondering did that made in Mexico Ford have Mexico tags on it . I can see that you are down there on the boarder . Did you here by chance if the truck owner had insurance .

The newspaper said it was a 1986 Ford, and the driver was only ticketed for failure to yield ROW.

The motorcycle rider was actually somebody I knew. Him and I had eaten several meals together before, although we had not seen each other for 2-3 years. The newspaper reported him as 50 years old. (Which is correct)

Sunday the newspaper also said the rider was in critical condition.

I'll keep yall updated with anything new.

:(

Prayer sent...

I hope the guy recovers. Motorcycle accidents are not fun at all, especially if they're not your fault... :{

Different situation...

Had to call 911 again.

We were driving along,, I had just picked up my girl from her musical practice again. We were dropping off one of her friends, when traffic came to a pretty quick halt. (A small road, Speed limit, ~35MPH)

I wondered what had happened, and since it was slightly raining, and we had just gotten passed by a '02/'03 1500 4 door short Bed Dodge Ram, going about 50-60MPH, after he passed us, he passed the car in front of us on the left shoulder. I figured he had wrecked. I pulled my Mom's Navigator on to the curb, hit the flashers, and ran out to see what was going on. 2 cars side swipped, one pretty bad, the other mainly cosmetic (pinstripped if you would. . )

The truck that had passed us was a little ways ahead, and looked like it had slid to a stop in a driveway (no harm to anything).

There was a little white ~98 Nissan Maxima that had actually spun out into somebody's front yard, a few yards back from the Dodge truck, knocking down the fence. He was trying fiercly to get his car unstuck from the hurricane fence. He was at WOT in drive, spinning his tires, then reverse, WOT, then drive, WOT, back and forth. When a few other people and I started getting closer to him, the two teenage kids jumped out of the car and started running down the street. (3-4 guys took off after him)

I called 911, and reported the 4-car collision (guy taking the call must have been new judging by his reaction FOUR CAR COLLISION!!! :-laf ) I told him no serious injuries as all drivers were out and walking around.

The female driver of the car that had been rear-ended the hardest (left rear quarter panel was pushed into the wheel, but was still easily drivable) was near hysterical, sobbing and wailing. (I later found out it wasn't her car).

As my girl and her friend were trying to calm that lady down, an officer or five showed up, re-routed traffic, and then one officer came walking around the corner with one of the guys that was in the white Nissan.

After talking to a couple drivers who saw, or were involved in the accident, it seems the Dodge Ram that had passed us earlier had nothing to do with the accident. (I took down his liscense plates just incase. He was driving away right after the accident happened, just as police were arriving.

I walked over to the white Nissan, and noticed it was still running. As I got to the car I was immediatly welcomed by the smell of alcohol. As I reached in to turn the car off (I was afraid of a fire. The car was wrecked from the front) I was nearly overcome with the smell of alchohol.

One of the drivers of a car that was sideswiped saw the driver of the white Nissan down by the corner, and told an officer about him. The guy got into a late model Mercury Grand Marquis that was passing by. As the officer tried to pull the car over the car ran. The chase was on, and I didn't see the car again. The Grand Marquis, and a cop car both tore into the night sliding around corners.

Shortly after this I told the officers everything I knew about the situation (which wasn't much), and left.

There was nothing in the newspaper this morning about the accident. Maybe tomorow.

Today's paper has announced a blood drive for the rider of the motorcycle.

Two different locations are being setup for Saturday. If I wasn't so freaking paranoid of needles, and sucking blood outta me, I would go and give a smuch as I could. I'm gonna ask my girl if she wants to give blood since she's cool with that stuff.

Merrick

Ooooooo... . That's some scary stuff you're running into... . Keep us updated on the 4-car collision and the motorcycle rider. ;)
