Which Southbend?

Big thanks to Bob for saving the day and letting us work in his shop.

I can't wait to see what a true 50/50 mix will do.

Unfortunately, it will probably be a little while before I can try tuning mine up:( .

Story behind that one HOHN?

I think 5 gallons would be enough. I am going to poke and measure the engine compartment to see if there is a place to put a couple of 1 - 2 gallon tanks. I know of a couple of real good spots, just need to find a tank that is the right shape. Gonna be a busy day tomorrow.

Just be careful all you druggies addicted to Meth. It can act like brake fluid in some situations (i think) and damage paint. If I am not mistaken, DOT 3 and lower has meth in it, and that's what damages paint. It's DEFINITELY corrosive to many bare metals... .

Overall the install went pretty good. Thanks LaserBob for saving the day and letting us invade your space. Mine would still be in the box otherwise. It is just to cold at 32 degrees to lay on the cold concrete unless you have to. I would say that if you prepare ahead of time to have everything on hand, know where you want to mount things you could do this in a couple hours. Otherwise plan 3 to 4 hours to do a decent job on the install. Definately got to figure something out for bigger tanks. Little one will be ok to fine tune and for running at the track. Won't last long towing up hill. Naturally mine had some water leaks. I am the worlds worst plumber. The fittings with the plastic swivels are fragile at best, be careful with those when putting them on.

Would also like to say THANKS to Sticks and Justin Mars for their assistance and guidence with the install. This thing is gonna be cool when it's finally tweeked in. The ricer guys at the dyno shop were impressed, along with the crotch rocket bikers videoing themselves doing wheelies at the Munson drags in Greeley.

Price for either system is $329. 25 on the group buy, which ends the 10th (have to have order placed by then) Mine is a stage 2
That is everything complete? Nothing else to buy? switches, fittings, etc. ---and all I have to do is call Matt and tell him I want in on the group buy?

OK, here are some of the photos.

The hobbs switch as seen from inside the intake hat. The tip sticking out in the shadow is one of the injector tips.

The other end of the intake hat showing the other injector tip.

Matts bottle mounted on the inner fender underneath the windsheild washer bottle.

Jeffs Injectors and Hobbs switch mounted on the intake hat.

Matts pump mounted under the drivers fender just behind the bumper. The bumper is to your left, and the tire and wheel well is to the right.

Mike drilling his intake hat for the injectors. He chose to mount his on the bottom (underneath). Super clean install!

Another shot of Mikes injectors. You really have to look to see them.

Mikes "T" off his boose gauge line (left center), Hobbs switch mounted on the firewall (upper left) and his relay (center right) above the PDC.

Too many cooks (4 or 5, and I think one under the truck) in the pot.

BWillard, you have mail in your PM box!

Great pics sticks!! Sure had fun with all of you guys yesterday. I need to go buy me the right size allen wrench to play with the hobbs switch today, my truck needs to do some snortin today, lots of Powerstrokes and Durmaxs in Greeley that think they are tough. Kinda thinking about making mine go manual and have a NOS switch in the cab like the ricers do. If I ever find me a PSD or a Dmax that can keep up I can smile over at them and light up the Methanol. :D Power is so addicting

Streetability of Snow Performance System-Stage 2

You got it sticks, go baby go!!

Newest test:

Second test of the Injection system. Street driven power:

My truck without Water Methanol Injected: 1678 degrees in about 7 seconds from rolling into the throttle @ 41 psi. ( I need twins :{ )

My truck with el cheapo windshield washer fluid in the Stage 2 system: 1301 degrees sustained @ 44 psi.

All runs made consecutive back to back on the same stretch of road near Greeley. (not posting where, cops are not my friend when I am in the truck ;) )

Ambient Air Temps 62 degrees. I made 4, 1 mile runs with fluid injecting in around 25 psi and the 1/2 gallon tank it came with is more than 1/2 full and that includes 4 runs on the dyno last night. Not Bad EGT Reduction at all!! Oo. Oo.

jrandol

That system drops my air intake temps 55 degrees at the hat, now put that to your EGT reduction.

1 Mile runs... . dang that's a hard test.

Is that with your prior twin setup? What is your intake temps without the meth going in?

Are 1 Mile runs overly bad to be squirtin this long? Other than my temps being at the edge of overly high?

Just got done taking a friend for a ride in the truck. My truck has decided it is not overly happy having something snorted up its nose before 25 psi. It seemed to jump in around 21 psi (havent installed the on light yet) and it bucked just momentarily but then boost skyrockets and you start sailing. Next week when I get home on Saturday I am going to play around with it and try different start points and see what that does. I think there is a ton of adjustability on these things. Kinda interesting, hopefully Jim can keep shedding his experience here and we can learn from the more experienced.

Without the water/meth I've seen air intake temps as high as 230 degrees, with the water on I've seen temps as low as 115 but on an average it's 55-70 degree drop in the intake temp so I use the lower number. Raise your activation point to 30 psi of boost or so... . it's just tuning!

On the long runs I don't see a problem except the MPH, if I was in my truck I would be calling rotate at 1/2 mile;)

Like my buddy Nowell said..... file a flight plan!

I seem to remember Justin said something about adjusting the pump too (the dinky allen wrench). Maybe turn it down a notch?

Thanks for the info Jim. I will set my hobbs switch to jump at 30 psi when I get back next weekend.

I hear ya on the 1/2 mile turns, I should rephrase, I didnt run straight thru the full mile. I only floored it about 1/2 way thru and then slowed down and coasted the rest of the way. At roughly 1/2 mile something began puckering up and it wasnt my face!! 120+ mph and my truck= white knuckles. Hopefully the DSS kit will cure that little problem :D

Here is Jim Fulmers original thread on this system:

This should be a good start. I know there is another thread that Jim wrote up on here but I cant find it right now.
