So I got home last night after work. The truck sat about 45 minutes. I got in and started it up again, fired right up as usual. About ten seconds after it started it sounded like there was an exhaust leak, but from the injection pump side of the engine bay. I shut the truck off, and it dieseled for about 5 seconds at about 400-500 RPMs, and shut off. I waited about 2 minutes and fired it up again. It fired right up, and everything was normal again so I drove off.

Everything seems normal now. The truck doesn't feel low on power, but I do get exceptionally low fuel mileage. I figure something is wrong with the fuel shut-off selenoid or the lift pump, what do you guys think?

Buck88,

Check the linkage and plunger operation of the fuel shut off solenoid which is on the governor section of the P7100, near the master cylinder. Sorry, you have to use the braille method as this stuff is upside down.

Godspeed,
Trent

If it was a whirriing noise and your tach was a little low.

Could be time for new contacts in the starter solenoid. You can get them from LarryB's= www.fostertruck.com/dodge.

Pull your starter and check out the contacts. The battery side one is usually worn down pretty bad.

Doesn't sound like lift pump problems.
