These welds are located directly in front of the top driverside door hinge, there are 3 of them (spotwelds) and the weld is not only broken, but the metal is torn--this truck has NEVER been off-roaded or wrecked--it has 39,000 and I take better care of it than I do my wife :D

This thing is really Pi$$ing me off.

Just curious, do you start and turn off you rrig with the doors open? The weight of the doors and movement of the truck durng start up and shut down is huge. It could contribute to the tearing.

A broken spot weld I could see as a factory f-up, but the tearing of the metal indicates stress. I knwo on my truck, the upper hinge bolt snapped in the door, and created a lot of movement.

Take it to dealer that sold it to you. You would be surprised how far they will push the mileage on these trucks. 3000 over btb warranty for an obvious defect is usually a no brainer. Just be nice about your dilemma and do not get militant. This will only put them on the defensive.

Good luck, Mike.

Nope--I don't start or shut it off with the door open.

Taking it back to the original dealership is out of the question--they got the AX from our German Allies:confused:

For being a 1-ton, this thing sure has turned into "China Doll"
