Have the Banks K&N Filter now (which is different from the standard K&N) but have been considering the PSYCHOTTY instead. Curious to know why everyone likes them better than K&N?

The "Big Boy". It works for me. I'd still love to see some type independent testing to determine if our pet filters are as good as we think... . hope.

AFE

I am running the Psychotty housing with an AFE filter. The Psychotty system is a great addition!!!!!

Psychotty air

I'm using the Psychotty air system with the K&N filter. Thinking about switching to the AFE filter. Used in conjunction with the Banks stinger plus kit the Psychotty air really helped EGTs while towing. I am pleased with the results of the system. :)

The Moparguy, big mac-daddy honkin' air filter for me!! This thing pulls like gang-busters on the top now! ... . and oh, that sound!

Been using K&N filter for years, and on several cars including my past vette and current '98 Camaro SS...

BUT, the "Moparguy" Godzilla filter sure looks interesting - gotta see if I can rig one and still keep my stock fresh air intake... ;) :D

AFE, no regrets

I'm using the AFE, works well. It seals better than the K&N's I've looked at and is much better built, its much beefier.

k and n cone filter with a stainless homemade heat sheild.

also modified rubber fender boot with a knife to let it scoop in more air.

cut 2 4inch holes in the cowl area and put 2 4inch od aluminum pipes in them to direct the cool clean air from the cowl to directly on the cone filter.

really lowered egt by doing this.

also a pantyhose prefilter helps the filtration.

You can get the K&N to fit the stock box or use the 880 style. The "Scotty" is made to use with the round conical shaped 880 filter. Some members use the 880 with or without the foam "sock". The "Scotty" is simply a plastic housing for the 880 and requires that you drill a 4. 5" hole in your firewall by the way. Air is directed through the grill and into the hole. Some members felt the "Scotty" was a waste. With 370's, #11TST, ATS manifold and 4" Jardine, I did see a drop of perhaps 150 degrees.

I have used both K&N's and just switched to the "Moparguy" style. IMHO, this is the best yet.

Jannetty racing also has a "cold air induction" kit that includes the RE-0880 and a heat shield to help keep the turbo heat away from the filter. I am using there heat shield with my Psychotty.

I'm useing the K&N REO880 and I made my own cone housing ,drawing air from the stock location,I also cut into the cone a 3'' angle fitting and am pulling air from other side of engine compartment up near grill. the reason for all this is because an engineer buddy told me the hole in the firewall had a negative pressure and wasn't as good as drawing air in from the front of truck it did make a lot of sense so thats why I made new cone out of 26ga. galv. then wrapped the entire con with waffer duct wrap we use in the H. V. A. C industry so the air stays cool. I just need to find some material I can wrap turbo with, any suggestions would be appreciated,it is a california truck if that makes a difference. thanks in advance for any help

Say E-M does that heat shield bolt to turbo ? if so is that all thats necesary to keep heat away from air filter housing ? just sorta like a barracade between the two with air spaces, where can I see a pic of this thing ??

Thanks in advance for any reply,

Joe Moglia

I run an AFE 14" cone filter. I ditched the K & N RE-0880. I thing the AFE filter is beefier & stronger. The AFE 14" cone and the K & N RE-0880 are identicle dimension wise.

I never could get my Pschotty Air to fit right. I threw it in the trash after several attempts, Presently Just run the AFE with the K & N "sock" pre-filter & Ted Jennety's Heat shield. I'm happy :)
