just wondering what would be some good performance mods for a 2001 cummins with 100000 miles where to start the best brands what works good and what is the best bang for the buck thanks.

I would start with gauges [fuel pressure, pyro, boost], then a fuel system like fass or airdog. Then decide where you want to go. Do you tow? Do you race or sled pull?

performance mods-programmers, chips, injectors, turbos, etc, etc, etc... ... ... brands-edge, tst, smarty, blue chip, formula one, diesel dynamics, industrial injection, high tech, etc, etc, etc... ..... pretty much you should go to the search forums page and just start typing up these names. this should be a good start as i am sure many more other mods and brands will show up. there are many more mods and brands out there that i left out but more than likely someone will throw them out there. hope this helps.

I concur... address known issues and essential items first, then decide what direction you want to go with the upgrades.

Deciding what you want from your truck is the most important issue when bombing..... We see lots of guys replace purchased products because they want bigger or made a poor choice. As mentioned gauges and addressing the LP are of priority.

I have been through tons of aftermarket things trying to find the combo I like the best. right now my favorite combo is injectors and a box. depending on what you want for power will depend on the brand and level, right now I use 120hp injectors and a va box, and its great, but a different injector and an edge ez would be great, if you want more get a tst and injectors, but it will break your trans... . trust me

performance mods

the truck has a 6 speed manual it is an everday driver and used to tow sometimes i just want a little more speed and horsepower I was thinking the egde to disply all the parameters witch is a good choice

Bang for the buck would some Jammers nozzles. At $248 for 100HP Jammer 3s it comes out to $2. 48 per HP, some other injectors perform a little bit better (less smoke, better idle quality) but that is in the eye of the beholder. If you go for the whole injector you could be dishen out almost $7. 00 per HP.

But a set of injectors no matter what you go with can really wake a truck up.

You need to get gauges, then a clutch, then you can get small injectors and a box. After that you will probably need a turbo.

Here is some good reading https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/24-valve-engine-transmission-faq-frequently-asked-questions-members-only/9797-proper-order-upgrading-your-isb.html

The names of the products have changed but the idea is still good.

I think the edge with attitude is really cool, gauges and a box all in one. I would be real careful with it till you get your clutch taken care of.

i'm using RV 275 injectors and an Edge EZ,as well as a FASS 95gph pusher pump which allowed me to eliminate the original lift pump... dynoed 312. 7 RWHP,currently i have 230,700 on the original VP44 ... . this combo works quite well.

good luck..... and yes,gauges are a MUST... ... ... ... . tom

Smarty, TST PM2 or 3, I won't even touch injectors :-laf, upgrade trany or clutch, Gauges, BHAF, 4" from the turbo back, might do a trubo, ... it never ends.

Gauges, DSS, Exhaust Brake then power.

The few I've convinced to buy the DSS have all been very pleased with the results.
