Hope someone can help me, I installed a set of westach gauges (FP,EGT/BOOST combo) and a vulcan big line kit on a friends 99 stock CTD. Now he tells me he has to crank on it for about 2 or 3 minutes before it will start. I did the same thing to my truck with no troubles, any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Sounds like a lift pump but if you installed the fuel pressure gauge that should tell you right there. what kind of pressures are you seeing

thanks for replying he says pressure is around 10psi, and I was thinking it was sucking air also but wouldn't I see a fuel leak somewhere if it was

One more thing, with the big line kit can you put to much fuel to a possibility failing injector pump if it is failing and how can I test the injector pump. Thanks in advance for all the replies

If it was on the in comin side of the pump may just suck some air while suckin fuel . Not sure on the codes but if it ran good before the install i would say problem with install .

Will it fire better if you wait for the lift pump to time out on the initial prime before you crank the engine ? I noticed after having my ECM flashed with the latest software (for cold weather fast idle) the lift pump barely bumps (like 1 second) and then shuts off until the engine is cranked. Before the flash, the pump would run for about 5 seconds until cranked.

Too much lift pressure will cause some trucks to hard start. FASS included in their instructions that it sometimes (although rare) happens.
