#@$%!!! Deer!!!

would it be out of line for me to ask what other members do for a living? i'm an ex drag racer and nascar guy. i now build race motors for motorcycles and atv's. winning motors buy the way. i build 2 and 4 stroke motors. i've been doing this for the last 11 years. my motors average 5 high points championships a season.

it's called Miller Racing Engines. my logo i put on cylinders is an MR.

i don't do suspensions anymore but i have a lot of knowledge in that area. inovation is the only way to stay ahead in this field and it takes a lot of time.

anyone else ?

maybe this is giving out too much personal info?

maybe no one cares

heavy sigh!!

just thought i'd ask

I am a graduate student at the only Indiana university, Purdue. My interests are in hay and forages. I also love to farm (hay and Christmas trees), collect antique Case tractors (3 tractors and lots of equipment), previously worked at an ag repair shop for 5 years (janitor, go-fer, and mechanic), and find jobs that require the mighty Dodge.

Contract production operator for a small oil and gas company here in east-central Alberta. Pretty good job actually-9 and 5 shift, 9 hrs. a day, no real hard manual labor (although looking at the size of my belly right now that may not be such a good thing :D ), good guys to get along with, and the plant is only 3 miles from my house. Callouts at 2:00 in the morning ain't so much fun-but luckily they don't happen to me very often.

So yer the one responsible for all that haze and pollution over by Shiprock :)

Small world. I went to school for 3 years at Sandia View Academy in Corrales, and lived in Monument Valley for 4 (concurrent with the school time in Corrales)

BTW, does the city STILL keep the sign up that says :

Drive slow and see our village,

Drive fast and see our judge.

Inquiring minds want to know :)

I'm presently a student, attempting to aquire a degree in computer science. I'm looking at becoming a web developer, programmer, web programmer, or administrator. Basically, I love doing the back-end stuff for web sites and am fascinated with programming. It's not an easy career to "break into", because to be "good" requires experience, and experience is hard to get if you're not "good".

For more than 13 years, I was a diesel injection technician. I held only Stanadyne certifications, but worked on Bosch, American Bosch, Lucas, Cummins, and a bewildering array of brands of just injectors, including Detroit, Cummins, and lots of Japanese stuff in addition to the Stanadyne stuff.

After coming home smelling like it for more that many years, the wife has developed a strong dislike for the smell now that I don't anymore :)

Computer stuff, and technology in general, was always my first love, but when I took that job, I was desperately in need of some gainful employment at a decent-paying job. Had I remained in the industry, I would have eventually become an auto mechanic, because the market for people to repair pumps is shrinking fast, with the advent and widespread use of "captive" sytems and unit injectors, and our business was and is slowly converting to vehicle service. While I'm an avid hot-rodder, doing mechanical for a living holds no charm for me. And, after all those years, the diesel injection business held no love for me, nor me for it. It's fun to tinker, now, and experimenting always seems like fun (the hot-rodder in me).

Yup,

Up until 1995 that was me up there in the Four Corners burning coal. Here in good ol' Corrales we still have the signs you remember. We're getting a new sign soon that will say that "Coyotes Live Here". Been having trouble with all of the city folk moving out here and complaining that their cat got ate.

Heh... back in the late 70's I logged with my dad in Northwest Montana (yes, I was barely in my teens), and Stihl's wer the butt of many jokes, like, "Are you stihl cranking that thing?"

"Is that a stihl sound I don't hear?"

"Couldn't you get lucky and have someone stihl that thing?"

"Are you stihl on that same log?"

BTW, dad had Husqevarnas and Homelites (darn homelites were slow and noisy, but dang good starting). I bought an almost new Big Red Homelite to make firewood, but some !@#$%@^@^@ stole it from me while I was moving.

Network Administrator for the State of Oregon. Been doing it for a couple years now and ready to exit government. Could get laid off due to unemployment rate in oregon. Emergency legislative meeting soon to decide. Wish me luck. Maybe a good time to just leave anyway. Love computers but try to stay away from them outside of work. As you probably have seen I dont post too much on the computer help threads. Got enough support out there without my interjections. If you run into real problem without a solution I will do all I can to help.
