I've seen tons of threads about KDP and since I may be picking up a '97 12v soon, I figured I'd look into it. What's the KDP? Is it hard to fix? Is it expensive to fix? Etc.
The KPD is the killer Dowel Pin. It has been known to work itself out and crack the crank case. Thus causing the oil to drain from your engine. The cost to prevent this from happening is about $50 (for the TST kit) and a few hours work. The cost of not preventing this is upwards of $3000. So if you do get a 12V then it is worth your while to prevent the dowel pin from moving. There are Jigs available so you don't have to tear into the engine. I tabbed mine for peace of mind. Do a search and you will have plenty of reading.
