The Good, The Bad....

Fastest street legal.

Mine would have to be a 1986 Honda CRXsi that was tricked out. I bought it used in 1986. It was bought for $12,000 new and had over 12,000 more in extras.

I only had it for a little while and never took it to the track. I was in high school and did not care what times it could run. I wish I knew now. I was't really mech. inclinded at the time either, being raise by my mother and no male role model.

Anyway it did have a 2. 0 out of the prelude si that was built with twin turbos and dual exhaust. The suspention was custom made and handled like a dream. The transaxle was worked on so it could do 50 mph in 1st. It had some custom body work done and did not look like a Honda CRX. I had the it up to 155 mph and was running about 8000 rpm. It redlined at 9500. I got scared and backed off with more go pedal left. :{

I road raced it alot, with I should have never done to stupid, and never even came close to being beaten. I have driven Porshes, while working at Porshoppe, and none could have touched that Honda.

It was stolen less than a year later and never recovered. The guy that built it moved to Europe and started building Rallye cars. So I never did get another one built. Insurance covered what I owed and I got nothing. Maybe I will try to build another one, but I dout it.

So what do ya'll have

2000 Dodge VIPER GTS:D Oo.

At the Dodge Skip Barbor Driving School in Monteray CA, at Laguna Seca Raceway.

SOOOOOOO much FUN

Well i'm young, and so the fastest thing I have driven is my buddies '71 Chevy full size truck with a 350ci in it. It was crazy fast once it got off the line.

Would have to be my first car. 1969 Camaro with a 365 hp 327 mated to an M22 Rockcrusher transmission, Hurst Competition Shifter, and 4. 88 gears in the rearend. Was a sweet ride, and one day will be back out on the road again.

My last car was pretty fast, it was a 1987 Buick Grand National.

12 second commuter car. :D

In High school, my buddy had a 67 Chevelle with a built 427 in it. I drove that a few trimes. That was so fast it was scary!!!!:eek:

I'd guess it was a low 11 second car.

My second car. 71 Super Bee w/383mag, auto. Dad and I picked the car up in a junkyard and rebuilt the engine. Holley 780 dual line carb and headers. I was 17 and in heaven. I've wondered often what ever became of the car (sold it when I went overseas in the army). Probably don't want to know. :(

Too heavy to be really quick, but FAST? YEP!:D Had 150 on speedo and I took it to 130 and lost the 'nads to go any faster. Still had 25% pedal left. I miss that car. Learned the lesson about replacing the oil drain plug during oil change in that car. ;)

I regress, but it was fun. Thanks for asking. Great memories.

My 70 340 Duster, back in the mid 70's it was turning mid 13's at 105mph. With 3. 23 gears it would top out at about 145. I didn't have the bucks for the slicks necessary to hook up and run the mid 12's it shouda run. It sure was fun on the street, or in my case, back country roads showing all the big block cars how to go fast.

Now, it's about a 14. 0 almost stock, old car with the original 4 speed and 3. 55 gears.

The 69 Dodge !!!

Fastest car I have ever driven didn't cost me a cent! The CHP provided it and even bought the fuel. If you left it running in a gas station, it never would fill up. :D :D :D :D :D

My 68 GTO 350 HP 400 was pretty quick. But the fastest one I ever drove was a 600 HP 66 Chevelle SS, 4 speed. I cant substantiate the HP, was going off what I was told. Hell, you couldn't get all the way into it until it was rolling good and even then it took some feathering. The friend of mine that owned it never raced on a track so I don't know how fast it was. He was killed in the car just a month or so after I drove it. Car was a little scary, it didn't surprise me when he was killed.

67 Mustang Fastback the a Race 390 engine

The fast car, I have ever driven (and actual own it during my college years) was 67 Fastback Mustang with sigerson racing 525 cam and hooker headers. ':D' I bought in second hand and it may have had a shift kit in the C-6 3 speed Automatic.

I use to shift the automatic manually at 60 mph in low and 100 mphin second for shifting , it would bounce the tach off the end of thr scale during the shifts, Manual shift at 6000-6500 rpm with the big block. It was great highway car, punch it at 70 mph and you were over 100 mph before returning to your lane, 2 plus second passing time. The fastest, I ever recall driving was on a new 10 miles section of interstate 5 in California which was closed on both ends during construction. During my college days (1972) driving back home on weekends or holidays everyone punch it out on this section for 10 miles. Speed was, well I wrapped the speedometer back around to pass the zero, way past the 120 mark, plus with 10% oversize tires. Easy 140 mph plus

The last time I did that , was running between way above the 140 when I drove under a overpass and the car jump sideways into the high speed lane all by itself, I was lucky the road was empty and I was running in the slow lane, I didn't even feel the cross wind, If I been in the other lane I rolled it for sure. The car was bright red and smooth. The CHP told be one day I should paint it, the reason stop our RED is you can see them against the blue backgornd of the sKY.

It was fast, I almost bought another one last year with the same configuration to add to the toys collection. I sold this one in 1974. It was driven hard!

My first car - it was a '70 Plymouth GTX, 440, 6pak, 4-speed. But..... I can't say for sure that it was faster than my friend's '67 Mustang - 427, 4-speed. I used to drive him home in it when he had too much to drink. That car always wanted the front wheels in the air at the top of the power band in each gear. I never did race him, so we'll never know who was faster. They were both great cars. Man, we really had the cars back in those days. :{ :{

Maybe the fastest car I ever rode in was my friend's '69 Hemi GTX. I haven't driven it, though.

fastest was my 84 mercury capri with a small V8 and 5 speed, ran about 12. 70 in quarter (can't find time slip). But my 88 thunderbird with the same engine combination went 3 rounds against full race "trailered" cars after driving from Barstow to Washington state (S. I. R. )

My '87 FireTurkey (Formula 350) would do 0-60 in about 4. 5 seconds. And it would get up to 141 or so crossing San Augustine Pass near Las Cruces.
And it sure was fun driving from Las Cruces to Hobbs at 120 on the open roads.

Well, hmmm so many to choose from. Lets see My

1st car was a 70' Chevelle SS 402 BB

2nd 70' GTO non Original 350

3rd was 71 Charger SE 440 4sp with a Dana and 3. 54's

4rth and Fastest, still kicking myself I sold it was a 71 Charger R/T 440 4sp with the Dana and I had the motor out more than it was in... . Oh Loved this car... . Used to Street Race it, and no idea of a Time, but used to hit 118mph in the ¼ Mile.

Also owned a 70' Maverick Grabber with a 302 Boss redlined @ 7,200 rpm best smoke show car... .

Man to have 1, 3 or 4 now I would be very happy... ... .

Fastest street car I owned was my '69 340 dart. With 3. 55 gears, it would turn 3000rpm at 60. The valves floated at about 6500 in those things, and the speedo was buried, so I guess it was tootling along at 130-ish, North of Bellingham, south of Blaine one night... . long, long ago.

Quickest ride was 10. 94/123 in my SS/EA Max Wedge car, back in 1976. Yeah, I know, the quick cars were always about . 3 ahead of my 'budget' car. Didn't need no steenking roll bars back then either!:eek: Now those things are way in the 9s. :{

My first car was pretty fast, a 64 Vette,327/365hp, 4:11 and 4-speed that could keep up with any big block until 4th gear. BUT, the fastest car was my 2nd Vette, which I purchased new after the service. It was a '69 427/435hp big block,solid lifters, with 4:11's and a 4-speed. That baby would dance all over the road in 1st and 2nd gear. Lot of new cars today would walk away from the old muscle cars. I would trade my Vette loyalty today for the new Viper coming out, with 500hp and 500lbs of torque. Woould LOVE to drive that one !

:) DADDY HAD A DODGE POLARA

383 MAGIUM PUSHBUTTON AUTOMATIC ON DASH!

STATE PATROL BUDDT SAW US AT 145MPH.

LUCKEY HE WAS A BUDDY.

A good friend of mine let me drive his Porsche 911 Club Sport. We were on a twisting mountain road west of Denver. The handling was amazing--Almost like it reads your mind. It was a different kind of engine music. That one is just getting going at 3k when my Cummins is done:D A whole lot of fun.
